I was driving up to meet some mates up today and jumped in the car and off i went. The car was cold from starting off. I got maybe 2 miles and had to slow down at a set of traffic lights. Car was creeping along at this point. I was looking about and checked my phone for txts quickly. Looked back and was almost at a standstill at this point. the car kind of jolted and the revs dropped off to well under 500 rpm then came back to normal. I carried on. About another mile up the road it cut out at a right hand turn. I restarted it and it carried on as normal. I have no fault lights coming on (though i havent checked for codes yet)

Any ideas guys? It isnt making any untoward noises or anything like that.

Cars a 7m-ge auto d reg btw

ahh right. Ive had this go wrong on my ford sierra aswell. though on those its much simpler to fix. didnt realise these cars would have the same set up.

Ill give it a go and report back with what i find.

Sorry to resurect an oldish thread. Im still having some issues with this fault. I removed and cleaned the iscv and the cold start injector. Yet i still seem to be having slightly high tickover untill its really well warmed up. It then tends to drop in steps not smoothly like it used to. Usually itll tick over at about 800 rpm when warmed, droping to about 650 when i engage drive. when i start it from cold tick over is about 1300 rpm.

Also ive just been down to the local supermarket and when i was in the car park I had to go almost from lock to lock at quite slow speed to get into a parking bay. upon hitting full right hand lock the car shook and the revs dropped right off. I then recovered which again was what it was doing before.

any further ideas? or could my iscv be busted?

Check the little vacuum line that goes from the p.s. pump to the intake boot just after the afm? Could be cracked, or have a pin hole. Dashpot, and maybe the tps as well.... The dashpot catches the throttle just before it closes, and lets it close slowly to keep from suddenly suffocating the engine. It has a little foam filter on the end of that little hose. Make sure that isn't plugged up.
