As far as the fuel pump cut off switch- I had an old '79 Cougar that would start without a key (I've had several ford igntions do this!) so I added an extra floor dimmer switch, not for lights but to cut off the msd ignition. I just had it mounted up a little higher than normal under the carpet. Don't remember exactly how I rigged the wires to act as just on/off cuz I was drunk hooking it up. But that means it can't be too hard! Someone sittin in the car with you won't even see you trip a switch like this, just hit it as you're getting in. Sorry bout your Supra thedave925!!!
i could start my 87 turbo buy inserting any object into the ignition and turning... a penny, screwdriver, the key, it didn't matter, and you could start it w/ the key and jus pull it out and keep drivin, that was pretty cool :biglaugh:

Okay so I went out of town and had some fun and now I'm back.

Pics:

sm_photo_missing.jpg

The Supra sitting in the police parking lot, waiting for cops to arrive.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

The most destructive damage took place on the driver's door lock. Maybe with a set of bolt cutters or something.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

My rear windshied wiper blade was twisted off of the arm. It screams spite.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

The stereo is gone. As is the mounting bracket. Not too many other cars it would work in I suppose.

The cops dusted and printed as much of the car as possible.

Cliff notes:
-The Supra was found the next day
-I was alerted and formulated a plan to get it back
-Cops suck
-I stole it back
-I waited for the police to arrive at the station to complete the paperwork
-I have the Supra, awaiting my sparetime

The Story:
So you know that the car was stolen from my possession in the broad day light of morning. That was ballzy. I continued with life the next day as though nothing happened because reality says that I have to be able to handle worse situations (accident). I actually finished work way early. I was home by 3pm. A local Supra enthusiast (lets call him Mr. Enthusiast) alerted me by phone that he knew of a possible sighting in his town. So I geared up to go and take a look.
I enlisted the help of a friend in the event that if I got the Supra back, I wouldn't have to leave behind another vehicle.
So we take off to meet Mr. Enthusiast up near the sighting location. I get dropped off just outta sight, all dressed like a local. I took over a corner, and with my flashy cell phone, began acting like a dealer. Over the phone, mind you! lol.
I called the police so I can do things right. I waited over 20 minutes. So eventually, with potential witnesses gone, I took off down the street towards the Supra at a casual pace, walking on the opposite sidewalk. I noticed that no one was around. No pressure.
Closer and closer with each step, my heart pounded with anticipation. Would there be any conflicts? No. I crossed the street, all my attention focused my love, the Supra. Nothing is going to stop me at this point.
Seeing that the windows were down, I took a chance that doors were unlocked too. Yes, but the F.U.B.A.R. job on the driver's handle denied me the crisp quick clean entrance. I had to pull twice to get'er open, the wack job was that damaging.
Immediately I sit down and note that the chair had been adjusted. I was clearly a much smaller person. No matter. Shove my key in the ignition and turn, for a 4 crank start up. Another gamble pays off, theres nothing wrong with my engine. Screw the warm up period, I back up a bit and take off in first, all bad on the turbo, but maybe this is why I think ahead and leave another with MDCmotorsports lol.
Damn, my adrenaline's just pumping, I get into second and try to think where the police station is. I end up making a few rights. I get right back onto the same street I took the Supra back from. Screw it, I fly through in high third, a mocking to the locals that this car is MINE!
Eventually I notice that the gas is just about on empty. So I high tail it to the police station. What do you think I did next? Park and walk inside? Hell naw, I won't let this girl outta my sight. I find the employee's parking lot and start honking. Not a damn soul. I'm about to leave, when I notice someone making their way to the exit gate. So I cut them off, T- bone style.
It was a lady. I get out of the Supra and walk over to her window, which has by now been rolled down in confusion and curiosity. I introduce myself and inquire her purpose at the station. A dispatcher she says. Okay, I tell her whats going on, and she says to call dispatch back and tell them to send an officer to the lobby parking lot where I'll be waiting. Right on, so I let her go and hop into the Supra. I get a phone call and tell my support where to meet me at, then I hang up and drive to the parking lot.
I park square in the middle, as seen in the first picture.
By the time I start to take in what all had happened to the Supra, Mr. Enthusiast arrives and we go over my car without touching it, to scope out details.
And this is where I take about 30 pics. I've selected the important pics already, cuz most of them are really just new dings/scratches or filth of different kinds left in/on my car. I even have FOOTPRINTS on my car. One looks like the POS closed my passenger door with their shoe.
A strange detail: I left all my tools and maintainence gloves in the car, but none were missing. Gloves for medical usage. The kind that would make my car perfect for hitting a bunch of other cars later. Whatever. And the engine bay was UN touched! I need to do a better inspection, but I drove home fine.
I did add a quart of oil, so they drove quite hard, in order to empty my 3/8 tank. Anyways, all is well and I have a lot of work to do before this bitch tears up the road again.
And once again, I appreciate the community's care support, and interest.

Cops?? Did you relate cops to eliminating the crime threat? No, it's disappointing to realise that they exist to keep crime at bay. They wouldn't know what to do if a car was spray painted with the word stolen, parked in front of their station. Its sad that responsibility is slowly slipping away. And the law-abidding citizen pays cuz we follow the rules. I try not to think about it. The cop that filed my report was saying he's "sick" and he "digs nailing the bastards", all this crap to cheer me up. He then gave me a card and case #. And I've left voicemails telling him whats going on. I don't care now, just don't pull me over lol.

I'm not interested in payback so much when I can't ID who exactly did what. They say our best vision is hindsight. There's a lot that could've been done to prevent this.

One more detail about the police, (enuff already lol) when something is stolen, and they stop it, they remove the occupants at gunpoint and take them to the station no matter what documention is shown. The police MUST conclude the case on the vehicle themselves, thus I waited at the police station.

Say a car was stolen. 3 days later community service takes note of this now abandoned vehicle. You know what happens? They tow it, THEN they figure out that it's stolen. So, now to get your car back, you pay the tow company. Bureacracy bites.

The evening Dave’s car got jacked he left a message on my machine but my wife translated it wrong and said it was some guy named Jay who I had met the night before and that his car was stolen. I didn’t know any Jay so I called Dave to ask if it was him – and it was. I told my son to spread the word in school (he is a senior in HS) and to keep their eyes open ( a couple of his friends drive Supras also). The following afternoon my son called me to say he saw a dark gray Supra in downtown Antioch and he took a video of it on his cell phone. He wrote down the license plate and relayed that to me. I didn’t have Dave’s number with me and I wanted to confirm the plate number so as soon as I got home I checked the thread. The first four numbers of the plate matched, but he had the last couple wrong. I figured what were the chances of the partial match, the same color and the car being seen locally, one town over – it had to be Dave’s car !

I called Dave immediately and explained this all to him and waited for my son to email me the video (which turned out to be too large to send). My younger son (13) and I then had to go to downtown to pay a fine ($100 for having too many cars and parts on my driveway). After paying the fine I thought we would drive around downtown and through some of the seedier parts just for the hell of it. After about 15 minutes, lo and behold, my son spotted a Supra parked in front of a house. As we drove closer I noticed the telltale TRD badge on the front grill. My blood started pumping at this point. As we passed it, I checked the plates and there she was !!! I nearly shit.

I immediately called Dave, gave him the address and told him to call the police and get his butt down here ASAP. I was going to wait there and keep an eye on the car. I wouldn’t have know what to do if someone had jumped in it and took off. I would have never been able to keep up with it in my truck. I then parked down the street a few houses down where I would be able to keep a close eye on the car until Dave or the cops showed up, I didn’t want to let the car out of my sight. About a half hour later, Dave and his friend, another Dave (let’s call him Dave 2) showed up. The second Dave and I waited on the corner for the cops, while Dave took up another vantage point down the block, but they never came. During this time there was little activity at the house where the car was parked at. At one point, two big Mexican guys were seen walking down the street and entered the house. About 15-20 minutes after that I noticed the car door was opened and I saw someone get in the car. I told Dave 2 that someone was getting in the car. The car was started and took off so fast Dave 2 and I couldn’t react fast enough. I said, “He’s taking off” and we both ran to our trucks and tried to follow. The Supra was way too fast and quickly disappeared around a turn. I tried to catch him but he was gone. I was so pissed because we had the car and now it was gone again. I called Dave and told him “you’re not going to believe this, but someone took off in the car !”. He said, “That was me, I stole my car back !”. He was at the police station.

I met him back at the police station and waited for the cops there for about 15-20 minutes but they never showed, imagine that.

Anyway, I’m just glad that Dave got his car back, which is extremely rare, especially since there was minimal damage and stuff missing.

Haha yup a good ending and more than 1 viewpoint makes this incredible, way cool! Chriso I hope you didn't mind my keeping you anonymous.
Ck, I know you party alot, so I figured that getting up at 6am to drive to me to take my car just isn't sensible. I ruled you out as a suspect, prankster or not.
