that would be a case of function ahead of form.

the welds weren't that bad, it isnt tig quality nor professionally done, but for a 150 dollar welder there pretty good, the picture is just shitty.

It doesn't look to bad, (though isnt easily seen anyway) works prefect and took little time and materials to make so it was a worth while mod.

I am a big believer in function over form, id rather have a fast/solid/good handling car and make it look nice later then have a car thats falling apart mechanically that looks showroom. Though i did get my car painted before building my motor....:dunno:

I found when I welded my stock 87 mount my motor did not sit like it did before - sure it fit but not like before.

Next time, I welded the mounts while on the car. This worked out a lot better and sat better as well.

Chunks forgot to add the :stickpoke

Its ok, there pretty to me. ;)

The engine sits in the car without issues, i could see it maybe sitting a little higher from not compressing the rubber (marginally) but i have had no problems with it.

These are Great mounts, if you can find them.....
Made by Kazama in Japan.
Because of the through bolts, there is no way the rubber can fail.
But they still allow for some movement, and vibration dampening.

I've broken several sets of early mounts, even some new ones.. However, I am very hard on the car(drag racing launches on drag radials and two step+powershifting)

Ooohh. Somebody finally started making import mounts like GM did back in the '60s. May be time to trade in the solids.

Not a fan of solids on ANY car.

Tends to rattle fasteners loose and just overall drive you batshit from the vibration. Most of the F-body guys I've known only run one solid that basicly acts like a hinge to stop the torqu from ripping the engine out, and the other one is stock to kill the vibrations. It does still have a bit more vibration, but not nearly as bad as full solids...
