I searched the boards for this and only found 1 or 2 old threads that totally bombed, but here is another shot.

Anyone know how much the stock mk3 5 spoke wheels weigh?

I'll take with or without tire as long as you specify, but would prefer to circumvent any "I think" or "I've heard" answers unless you are damn sure.

I'm looking into buying a set of wheels from a local seller for about 250 (which i believe is a pretty decent price) but i can't justify that unless there is some sort of performance value (weight loss). I had been looking into a set of rx7 wheels for the longest time, but i don't want to worry about rubbing and/or getting spacers for them to sit flush in the wheel well... Then i ran into these.

Quick answers would be magnificent as I may be getting them tomorrow. :icon_surp

Thanks guys.

weighed a few different ones.

sawblades were 24lbs

91 5 spoke were just a tad under that, maybe 23.5lbs.

it was just a bathroom scale, nothing real scientific.

The 5 spoke wheels are around 16lbs +/-. Its a huge improvment over the blades. Toyota put the supra on a diet for the later years on the mk3.

95% sure that stock sawblades - 23lbs. stock 5-spoke- 16 lbs.

Nicer rims (according to most) and nice weight reduction when you account for all 4 wheels ;)

I'm a real big fan of 5 spoke designs... and I'm tired of not being able to see my damn brakes. ha. I'd love to pick them up and put a nice coat of gloss black on there.

More than anything else i just want to see if anyone knows how much they weigh before i waste my time and money to go look at those wheels... Plus... There should be a record of this SOMEWHERE on the forum.

I'm sure it's something people have thought about before.

there are 2 different versions of the rx-7 wheels. the later ones that have extra reinforcement on the spokes weigh more. but agreed, my scale isnt the best. just curious how the 5spk and blades were real close in weight and others say they are a lot lighter. maybe these were really really dirty haha.

quite frankly ANYTHING is better than sawblades.

i like the 5 spokes and they do let you show off your brakes more than the blades do. :)

I'd weigh them but they're on the car w/ tires on them, next time.
