So as i start with Piecing together a T4 turbo kit ive decided on stages. Ill start off With standalone and then ill work from there. As i piece together the manifold and WG and softlines and all, ill be upgrading the car. Think IC and hardpipes, Fuel system.

One of the first mods is an Exhaust. This is obvious. But the Ct-26 will stay on for a while untill i have everything ready for the new tubo, so What i want to ask, Can i Buy a ct26 downpipe and later accomindate it o a t4 Vband style? Granted anything is possible to make, would it be fairly easy to 'hack' off the flange for the ct26 and convert it to vband? Is there a thinkness of tube or greater that should be avoided for a vband?

Im not wanting to purchase parts ill just have to sell again for a different style part. Id rather do it right the first time. Rather, what are some of the things i should need to look out for, or keep an eye on when making a V-band downpipe?

You just said it right there not to be an ass but just save up and buy everything needed then put it on, your going to save your self alot of money and time if you do it this was. the other way you just making more work then needed just get everything pile it up in your room and wait till you have everything.

You could technically hack off the ct26 flange off the downpipe and weld on a v-band.... but that will only work if the T4 turbo is in the same position as the ct26. In my case it was not in the same position so I had to build a downpipe.

Who has a v band downpipe? I havent really com across to many, so id probably have to build one anyways. So wouldnt haveing an existing one to modify be easier than starting from scratch, even if its just ballpark close?

I think that depends on how good of a welder you are

Not how good of a welder I am, but how good of a welder i can beer bribe to do welding. :biglaugh:

So basically get the downpipe to fit to the turbo and then just weld on the flange? Is this a tig job o can it be had with mig?

ATPturbo has some downpipe parts. I'm using there 90 degree V-band elbow that clamps on to the rest of my custom downpipe. It's almost a perfect fit with the way my HKS long runner manifold places the turbo.

Here is how mine turned out.

Masterpower T-70, with the .63 hot side, V-band/T4 flange. Bought the V-band adapter and clamp off eBay as well, Welded it up to a 3" ID pipe, and adapted that to my exising custom 3" ID downpipe..

Everything is coated and wrapped, so it's not easy to see the flanges, but you can see where they clamp together at the turbo exhaust housing. (Yes, that's a eBay stainless manifold, modified for fit, coated and wrapped.)

Well, if you had a 3" CT downpipe and later on want to convert it to a v-band, cut off the DP at the point that the 3" starts to flare out to conform to the shape of the CT turbo and go from there to make it fit your new exhaust manifold and turbo... There are cheaper ways to do it, like leave the stock CT DP on for now and just make your new v-band DP all at once...

The first idea could be what adjuster posted, but I can't see the picture because this work computer fails.
