I just put a copy wastegate on a customer car, works fine daily driven @ 12 psi. I took it apart and compared to an HKS apart and it was all designed the same way.

Note that the HKS has a nipple at the top, not an adjuster screw. My copy did not come with any nipples.
Isn't it just like every HKS WG when you wanna buy one, you need to purchase the nipple separately?

I just thought of something: how far off is this going to move my turbo? Is it going to affect my DP? I was just thinking, I get this thing, put it on, bolt it down, and then realize my DP "V"band is an inch too low or something...

I guess you should figure: If getting this custom style manifold... OF course it's going to position things differently. I almost guarantee the DP will need to be either repositioned (cutting and re angling) or remade all together.

Have you seen how low the WG sits down there too? Makes it look really low.

Here is the pictures from Will's manifold.

It's pretty low.

A spacer was needed for the wastegate in order to properly run the dump tube. The way it bolts onto the manifold the dump either faces against the subframe or the block, with only a couple inches clearance on either side. I am sure it is POSSIBLE to make some hacked dump tube work, but I just found it easier to make a spacer to rotate the wastegate 90* so it dumps towards the back of the car leaving more room to make the dump tube.

I have owned the manifold for several months but it has only been in use for about a month. Yes it is an older version I suppose since it hit the oil filter mount.

A friend has been running his gt42R with the ebay manifold for over 4 months with no issues, and thats without any supports on it. He does 24psi DAILY DRIVEN with it too. Manifold is fine.

I don't have a picture of the wastegate spacer. All it is is two 50mm WG flanges welded on opposite ends of a short section of straight pipe (2.0" dia. I think) with one flange rotated 90*

Is it me, or does the SS auto mani look EXACTLY like the one 935motorsports sells?

Whats the story on this?

Because in this wold, there are lots of "you get what you pay for" people, so 935 jacks up the price and makes a killing off it..... :bigthumb:

well, i guess they redesigned the wg dump too. cause my wg sits so close to the block there is no way a pipe would fit. but in my mkii i should have room to run a 2in pipe with 90deg bend the way it is in the pic. it should clear the rail just fine. though mines going in an mkii. i havent bolted it into the mkii yet but measured from the flange on the head amd the wastegat is directly below that and almost as close as the head flange itself. mine is the newer style one though.

btw blackout, is your dp a 3in or 3.5in? i planned on a 3.5in dp.

I come from a land down under
I'd be very surprised if the cracking issue is still there as the newer version uses 3mm thick tubes with a lot of load tabs.

I've posted a few pics in my build thread and while it's a tight fit on a RHD car a T04 should bolt on!

With my spacer, the nipple on top of the wg hangs as low if not a tiny bit lower than the oil pan.

My downpipe isn't low, it almost rests on the underbody, its a tiny bit lower than the frame rails.

That was my point screaminglemon... They ARE the same... THe one on the left is from 935's website, and the one on the right is from SSauto's eBay auction... My whole PROBLEM with this is, *and it disappoints the hell outta me* my problem is, 935 sells this piece for $650 MORE than SSauto does... SIX HUNDRED FIFTY!!! How? What? Why? Price gouging? I understand you gotta make a profit... I understand they sell other brands, and obviously cant sell a $200 manifold next to an $800 manifold... But that's a ridiculous mark up... And if 935 cant sell them at the same price as eBay, then they ought to pull that product... Or get with the other mani companies and get them to drop their prices... It just looks really bad for 935, well, in my eyes... It's just my humble opinion...

Same with HPF and many of the others that sell a version of this same 321 ss manifold.

They are way overpriced when you look at what you can get on Ebay, but then again, some of the companies are selling a complete kit, with fabricated DP, WG pipes, and all the stuff you need to pretty much just bolt on the manifold and a turbo of your choice.

If you don't mind doing the fabrication work yourself, and can live w/o the crack free warrrenty, then Ebay is the low cost route for sure.

Not everyone is willing to take the responsibility of buying off Ebay however, and they pay for it with higher costs on similar (or in the case you pointed out, exactly the same.) parts.

actually, the hpf manifold is diff. the turbo is angled diff and the flange isnt a split flange, its a std t4 flange. they pay a separate company to mfg them. supposedly they are a higher grade 321ss but i dont know, but the design is diff. look at the pics of their kit and look how the turbo is aimed compared to blackout89 's. its not much diff but is diff. and as for 935, they used to have the manifold for $500, i was thinking of buying it at that price, then the ebay mani's started hitting, i got mine for $125 shipped. and the 50mm wg for $120 shipped. just got to be paitent and watch ebay like a hawk. the $125 shipped was a buy it now price. i was leary but he had good feedback and did deliver. but now he is no longer an ebay seller so i cant recomend him to everyone for cheap manifolds. i think some goober reported him cause of the oil filter housing fitment issue cause he wouldnt give a refund, it was the only bad feedback i saw, guy said the mani didnt fit. i already have arelocation kit so if i was getting the old one i didnt care. wasnt an issue for me.

I thought I should clear up some confusion about this.

Originally when I made this item available, there was a company called Berk Technology that was taking overseas manifolds and "fixing" them to be proper and offering a crack free warranty. They use one of the welders from Magnaflow (they say) to weld in his off time and were willing to back up the quality, which SSAuto does not.

The manifolds were 5something plus shipping my cost and so I had placed them available on my site. I had no pictures at the time so I probably grabbed one from eBay, given that they would look similar and I needed something for the site.

Now fast forward to today. Ebay continued to go down and Berk was not selling any at that price. In fact when I did request one finally, they said they were no longer offering the service due to poor sales. So basically the item on my webstore is no longer valid and I will take it down.

Recently I purchase an SSautochrome mani myself to see how it was. Runner 1 hits the oil filter mount and you can see it has some shortcomings on it. For $150 is definetely worth fixing if you are the DIY type. The GOOD news is that Megan Racing came out with a manifold as well. See my section for more details and a direct comparison between SSautochrome and Megan Racing.

SSautochrome manifolds are only worth the materials and basic shape. As far as a company, they are horrible and have no support whatsoever. I emailed them numerous times but never received a response. Yet when I purchased an item on ebay I instantly received a payment request. They are very shady and I have no doubt that you will receive no warranty with the items. In my research, I find that only a threat of a lawsuit will get them to take action. That said, over the course of the past year maybe 2 there is still no evidence of a SSauto manifold cracking. I'm sure one might at some point but I have not seen it happen yet. So it's basically at your own risk.

^ really don't wanna pick on ya or nothing.... but they've made a 2nd gen manifold now that doesn't have clearance problems :)

the only shortfall i've seen as far as fitment goes is the biggest you can fit without adapters is a .6 comp housing

but other than that... i can see your point on the manifolds you sell... just hope you don't have any in leftover stock that you would either take a loss on or not sell at all

935, I will admit, I have sent them a handful of emails, on a few different items, and I NEVER got an email back from them... Thats not very cool...

Suprra girl, I have a .70ar and it's pretty big... I wonder if it'll hit, lol... When I put it back on last night, it's pretty massive, I was thinking, I bet this thing will hit if I put it on the mani... BIG SNAIL! :D:D:D
