"SRT-4: Its the fastest"

I drove one home last night to detail, and drove it back. After about an hour of seat time, I thought it was pretty damn sweet... Not 'hey Ill go in debt $20k' (or however much) sweet, but was fun running stoplights. All stock and my heavy foot kept breaking traction in 2nd and from 5-12psi it was pretty exciting. I always thought they were shit *because I got my ass handed to me in one* and after driving, I actually have a little more respect.
Oh. And like any American car, it definitely feels cheaply built.

I'm not jealous - I just have a major thing against Chrysler, and Dodge. Sure with enough money, they can be fast, and they are quick little cars, its the horsepower to weight ratio...lagged said:
Oh... I would just like to add in - I don't really bash on the people driving the cars - I just sorta question why anyone would pay more for a car than what its really worth - that goes for any car. I can see paying a dealer some money - they have to make money in a car deal, and I can see paying more for a car that hasn't really hit market yet. I can see paying a lot of money for a quality car too.
My old 944 impressed a friend I had with an SRT4 when we raced from a stoplight one day. I got him off the line really bad and it took him a while to catch up. He was ok with it all until he figured out that he paid 15K more for his car than I did mine...
I gotta get going - I am sorry to have bashed the car as much as I did - anything can be fast, and yeah, my car isn't much of anything, but I am not saying that it won't ever be something to talk about. I just enjoy working on cars - and I like cars that are under estimated - I root for the guy that has gotten the most out of their car, using the least amount of stuff to build it with.

Hey I am sorry that Dodge is the least favorite on my list. Sorry to have ever said anything at all.
What it comes down to these days is that KIDS a lot of times get their cars purchased from their parents. They're not given a performance aftermarket fund, so they are allowed to get a car that is 20k. SO would you rather have a civic or a SRT-4? Obviously thats a very heated debate espicially between the Dodge and Honda fans, but in the end, the kid with a srt-4 will be faster than the kid with the civic. SRT-4 claimed to be the fastest factory sub-20k compact, which it is. They never said anything about reliability, looks or features.
I rode in one the other day whn the guy was adjsuting his boost controller.

There's not one thing about SRT-4's that impresses me. If I wanted a 4 door sports car with a big spoiler I'd be buying an Evo or STi, Front wheel drive is just no fun.

I've been taken down by one before(in your car) that was running ~300hp with minimal mods. Although I would never want one because they are just not my style(boy racer look isn't me) the performance is pretty damn good for sub20k. This same car also ran 12.9...
So those of you who are so high and mighty above the SRT, better hope you keep running into stock ones because one day you might get trounced by one that is modded.
^^Anything can be built to be quick, not everything can be made fun. I'd rather a 200hp Supra than a 400hp SRT, FWD 4 door just isnt my style for a sports car.

a 200hp supra wouldn't be much fun at all to me. I'd rather DRIVE the 400hp SRT but at the end of the day I'd rather OWN the Supra.
Its still a Neon.......with a tacky body kit and amplified BOV. I saw one the other day accelerating the 200 yards or so from stop sign to stop sign on my street. Shifted 1-2-3. Wasn't hardly accelerating at all, but there was still this huge turbo whine and the loudest PSSSHHHH!!!!! BOV I've ever heard. That would drive me nuts!
I do know it would most likely give me a good run for my money, but I wouldn't be caught dead in it. Sorry, it wreaks of economy car.

I happen to hate Ford's (please don't hurt me Loki) for no particular reason, just raised that way. I wouldn't touch one, even though some could easily beat the Supie. No, I wouldn't drive a GT40. Yes I know its an expensive exotic supercar, but sorry. I used to say I hated them and loved GM cuz Ford had terrible quality and were "Found on Road Dead" and "Fix Or Repair Daily" and GM was awesome. This was like age 11 and less. I still like GM, but have realized they all have piss-poor quality. lol.
