Well not that this Matters for 89toy now but

Just to let people know

all gapped to .030

I bought some NGK BKR6EGP Platinum plugs with a Steel Ground and i am going to test them out in my engine. If i notice any Differences or issues i will report so.

I will also be giving the NGK BCPR6EIX Iridium Plugs a try.

The Plugs i pulled out of the engine are the NGK BKR6EP-8 The Premium Laser Platinum plugs with a Platinum ground that NGK Sells According to NGK this is the Original Equipment Manufacturer, and/or Original Equipment Service Part

They also have a Laser Iridium Plug with a Platinum Ground. I belive the Correct part number would be IFR6T11 I got that part number based on what a 1997 Supra would use 2JZ-GTE it is the same plug or should be the same plug as the MR2. According to NGK the 1994 MR2 uses the 8 Like i pulled out of my Engine with a Gap of .032 and the 2JZ Uses the 11

I have not been able to find the Gap for the 1J as of yet but my guess would be that it should be close to the Turbo MR2 Gap.

On a Small Side note the Non Turbo MR2 Uses the 11's with the Same Gap as the 2JZ-GTE according to NGK

If i can get my hands on these Laser version i will try to test them out and see if i notice any difference.

The only thing i don't know is about the Heat ranges with Plugs. Is it the higher the number the colder the Plug or the Lower the Number????

Ninja Edit: Figured out the Plug number thing. The higher the number the Colder the Plug.

I will also be giving the Denso Plugs a try They have some cool proprietary U Gap shape thing with there grounds for better sparking. i will probably only try the Denso Iridium Plugs IK20

I've just ordered NGK BKR6EP's.... give those a shot and change them out sooner than later.

the BKR6EP-8's are the OEM Plug that should be used in the Engine thats the Laser Platinum that NGK Has. I don't know what the interval should be but i would change them pretty often if it was me. But not as much as people are changing the copper plugs

After reading more about the Denso Plugs i think i will be switching to them more then likely

Thnx RacerXJ220 the info there and on the sites People gave is great.

It Seems that Plug choices and gapping is an Art Find What works best for your car and situation

Forgot to mention i run only 94 Octane in my 1JZ, Maybe some people are having issues with detonation just from running a lower Octane Number

ya only place around here that sells 94 is Petro-Canada Wish there Were Others

If i cross the boarder there is a Gulf Station with 93. I really don't like putting anything in under 92 But 92 is hard to find it seems it's either 91 or 94 everywhere in Canada. Not that the 1 Octane makes a huge difference but it makes me feel better :)

well the copper plugs usually have a colder heat range and they can stand up to more abuse that a turbo and high compression dishes out.

They might be able to handle the pressures and abuse but they give an in adequate and inefficient spark.

There are other spark plugs that can handle more abuse then Reg Platinums and have a much better spark providing better A/F and HP since your actually getting a proper burn.
