and the stock auto trans.. how much power (aprox) will it hold? and what can i do to beef it up? and is the stocker a a340?

If you have all that work and money into the engine make sure to get a NEW Toyota oil pump. It's not worth risking even if all of the clearances are ok. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.

That pump is fine, but you'll be fine with any OEM pump as well. There's no difference, they are all made in the same place.

As for the tranny, I remember reading that they work up to ~300 hp, but damned if I can remember where I saw that.

Ok.. I just bought a Toyota OP for $165.. I would be willing to get you my discount if you like.. The Fuel kit is a decent price.. You could piece it together from different vendors and save a little but It might not be worth the hassle. I heard that the stock auto might act up at around 300-350whp like GrimJack said..

By the looks of your post you will be in that range!!

for everyday driving the auto should be fine :) now if you are drag racing... you should upgrade the trans/torque converter. i personally have had great experiences with the a340e on mkiii's and mkiv's

ya but the quistion is will the a340e hold up to 450+ hp with about $1600 in up grades... because thats about how much it would cost for me to go r154... and that includes clutch and fidanza flywheel.....

After re-reading your statment, I think I may have misunderstood what you were saying. I was thinking that you had 1600 to put into the tranny, but what you're saying (I think) is that you have 1600 in upgrades on the car already, right? I doubt 1600 would get you to 450 HP, so I'm thinking I was right on the first guess. It doesn't take 1600 to build a 450 HP capable auto. PM jdub to see what all he's done to his. His auto is good for about 700 I think. Find out what he's done, then research the general costs of each thing he's done. I'm fairly sure it will cost less than 1600.
