since we're on the subject of tax refunds, how do people get beck more than they pay in?

a friend of mine is getting back almost twice as much as he paid in, apparently he gets my tax dollars too.

Im going to buy a DD again. It makes economic sense. It takes me a 1/4 tank to get to work in back in my firebird. Even with 25$ fill-ups thats still 100 bucks a week. Car is getting 13-15 mpg :( Im going to try to find a civic(100% stock) or a 1.8 celica. Or even a corolla. Something that i wont be tempted to drive fast in. Self control can be a bitch!

1.6 (4afe) 5th/6th gen celicas are great with gas too...

This is called a "tax credit".

This is how Obama is going to give a tax break to the 50% of Americans who don't pay taxes.

It's just another welfare check.

^ Nice...

To any financial people... Im getting back $11k, which is enough to pay off all of my debt -the STI and mortgage... Some things are 0% interest (appliances for the house, some furniture.... maybe $2500-3000) Should I pay everything off and put money back into savings, or pay off things w/ interest and let the money make a little money in savings... plus is easily accessible in case of an emergency, and wont end up being on a CC w/ interest?

You've got it right. Use money where it earns the most and/or loses the least.

Pay off your interest bearing debt first. No interest debt stays, start earning interest with what is left.

Don't make emotional decisions about money and you'll do fine. It's just math.

^ Thats kiinda what we decided on. Was just curious how others would look at it.

We would have been fine debt wise w/o the refund, but it's nice to get everything paid off almost immediately.

How do you go about not paying taxes in and then paying them off come Tax time? Is there an equation that would say roughly what to expect to pay?
