IJ, it says "toyota" on the PP... It also says "5X" on it... Also, it says "AISIN" on it, and so does the clutch master cylinder... It doesnt say ACT anywahere on it... I can get an edge shot tomorrow of the disk... It's goin anyway, but I was just showin pics... Like I said, the last Toyota stock PP I saw was black/dark brown... This is wierd... Fuggin EVERYTHING about this WHOLE g'darn car is a MYSTERY!!!!!

Justin: check out HP freaks clutch disks! They have some serious power handlers...

Jake: ACT use Stock Cores to build their clutches.

The big difference is in the disc and why I asked for the edge shot if you can get one.
<edit> "Colour" is correct where I'm typing I can't help it if you use Amerglish ;)

All I wanna save is the PP, because Im going to get one of HPfreaks disks, because they can take 700+ft/lbs of torque... And they're kits use either the ACT PP or the Spec PP... *I thin kits the Spec* So, if I have an ACT PP then I wont have to buy another one... How can I tell if its an ACT?

Am I right about the stock PPs bein black or brown?

The disk is small, lol... I thought that thing would be like 18"s or something, lol... They look bigger in pictures, lol... My buddy was sayin the disc looks like it has "slippage" marks on it... How thick is this thing suppose to be when new?

As I said it's ACT Yellow so could be one of theirs, as far as I know there's not a lot of difference in the PP's from stock it's all in the disc.

Dunno about the GTE disc but the stock GE ones are a brown varnish colour.

ACT use a bonded/riveted disc with no marcel springs between the friction surfaces so what your friend is seeing might be chatter from this design.

Are you thinking of getting one of the Feramic discs from HPF?

Yes, one of those disks... Duane was sayin they're really solid, I believe he used, or uses one...

Whats a marcel spring?

I will say this about this clutch: I could rev to 6000rpm's and dump the clutch and it would grab and go... Also, when I engaged the clutch, from neutral to first, it would like LOCK up, you know? Like, jerk, like teeth grabbing...

So, can I re-use this PP? I can get pics tomorrow of the PP up close and off the motor if needed...

Marcel Springs are the wavy steel springs between the 2 friction surfaces of a stock disc they take up the engagement slowly so it doesn't shudder.......

As long as the PP is in good condition no reason why not, tap it on the ground if it rings it's fine if you get a dull clank it may have a broken pivot ring.

Also check the friction surface is smooth flat NOT blued and crappy

Not sure if it's the same discs but didn't a few guys have issues at Vegas with Feramics welding emselves at the strip?

The clutch in the picture above is a ACT Street.

Spec, ACT, RPS and other companies use stock toyota pressure plate but modify the springs on it to apply more pressure. They will all say Toyota, AISIN on it but the meat is different.

THANK YOU PIONEER! I appreciate that bro... *ps: thanks for your offer too!*

IJ: the pressure side is all shiney and looks nice and pretty, no blue at all... Also, the disk does NOT have any kind of wavey metal anything between the pressure sides...

I talked to John, or, damn, I forgot his name: the guy from HP freaks: anyway, I talked to that guy and he said NOT to use light weight aluminum fly wheels with this clutch, because it would melt the aluminum to the feramic... So I found a light weight billet steel fly wheel I might get...

Jake: Cool good news if it's in that good condition I'd do the tap on the ground test to check the pivot rings then use it!

The Lightweight Aluminium flywheels have a cast iron friction surface bolted in so maybe that what's welding and the steel flywheels being harder don't.

(guess what I did for a living when I was younger)
