You have to be shitting me. That is one of the biggest drawbacks of the JZA80, its style.

The interior went "5.0" with cheap and lighweight plastic as way to reduce weight from our luxury GT.

I guess my idea of a Supra and ricers is something different.

IM 100% behind you on that. Ive considered buying a MKIV a few times, and one of the reasons I havent bought it was because of the choice of materials they have used. The MKIII dash is wraped in vinyl, whereas most interior pieces these days (including MKIV) are painted plastic.

I agree, I love the mk3 interior their is nothing like it. For its time I think its the best! But then again I think a mk4 interior into a mk3 would be pretty sweet. Good luck with that its going to be a hard one to do!

Ok from my own head, this is what Ive figured out so far...

Fitting the dash width wise shouldnt be THAT big of a deal, tiny fab here and there.

Setting it in place might be hard to do but not hard to actually figure out, so I add a few UNSEEN bolts and brackets.

the air vents, routing those with custom hosing should be easy enough. as far as AC control, Im taking an 89+ CC panel and emoving the one from the MKIV dash. Im cutting a hole and placing it in there. Where the 2 dials are for the MKIV CC, Im putting 2 gauges.

Thats what I have so far... input? I havent started yet, I still need the MKIV dash

I think your on the right track, however i think length wise fitment will be more difficult the fitment of depth.

I was thinking that but I really dont think thats true. I believe the shifter holes are in the same posistion, considering aside from firewall modification, a 2jz with a 6 speed will fit into our cars, and the shifters in the same place.... get where Im going with that?

You're probably better off starting with a fiberglass dash are mounting your gauges into it.............................

The area where the shifter sits, is much higher in the MKIV.
There will be a bit more of a gap between the top of the transmission, and the shift knob, and the knob might be recessed alittle into the boot if you have a short shifter/SOGI mod.

Ok this just comes from the fact that I need a new Speedo cable, the one i have wobbles the needle sometimes....

I'm a pretty nice guy, and I'm more than willing to encourage people to take on cool projects, but you're way out of your league with this one. Do a simple color change, maybe new gauge faces, red backlighting, recovered seats, etc. Try all that first and then see where you are.

Ill restate what I said, I just like something unique. Im sure theres other interiors I like that are non toyota that would look cool, but nothing but Toyota sees my car, including this project.
Since no one else has the balls, I'll say it...no matter how well you do it, it will look like ass. Complete & utter ASS.

You want custom, more modern? Do it up in fiberglass & call it a day. I came to look for parts...saw this thread & couldn't resist. Call me negative, call me a naysayer, call me an asshole- a MkIV dash in a MkIII will look like ASS.

I'm done.

Saying what needs to be said does not make you an ass.

And the original poster should take all the comments with a grain of salt, and do what you are going to do.

Yeah I undertand and agree with you on that fact, but have you measured the entire width of the dash. If it is wider than the MKIII than the same amount of material will have to be removed from both sides to prevent the center consol from being off center.

The distance bertween the bottom of the window and front of the dash shouldn't be a problem since it will be easy to remove the material with out affecting the aligment of the dash. That is if it needs to be removed.

The only reason i say the above is because factors such as the slanting angle of the MKIII and MKIV might be different causing one dash to come forward more. Also overall width may affect placment from side to side.

To the people wanting to see pics and progress already, Im sorry to mislead but Ill say again, this is in early planning right now, nothings gonna pop up yet. Sorry, Im trying. I work alot.

I am also still taking all the advice in these posts, what I really want before I try this is to drive around in an MKIV, even only for 1 min down a street to see how it feels with the dash.

I guess I will start with a stock interior redo, then go from there if I dont like it. I really want teh all black with red accent look, stock or with the MKIV.

As far as fiberglassing an entire cutom console, I would if again, I knew how to make the molds and such. Still gotta learn that one.

And also, I know alot of are thnking Im getting in WAY over my head and such, but thats how I do things, thats how I learn this stuff... I rebuilt my engine when 1 year ago I barely knew how it worked entirely. I did it on my own just had extra muscle when needed... I can do this.
