and this was the first thread i came upon.

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=402384

it's a thread about someone wanting to swap an ls1 into a mkIII. :3d_frown:
it just goes to show that we have a good group here at sm. not only do i despise the use of that motor in any swap, but it's into a mkIII none the less. if you're going to swap any ls series motor, might as well go big and just drop in an ls7.

Well, you could at least go for a 1UZ/2UZ swap if you want to go for a V8...

the ls1 is lighter, physically smaller and has widely available and cheap power mods.

why would you go with the 1uz?

I like the idea, it's different, it's powerful, it's interesting.

I agree with trucker, There's nothing so holy about the MKIII that makes a sbc swap so obscene. I think the LS1 is a great choice too. I remember the thread and pictures of a guy who put an LT1 in a MKIII and all I could think was "Why not an LS1?"
The parts are cheap, easy to come by, and unlimited in options.

I would love an LS engine in a MKII, No-one really expects that from such a car, It would be lots of fun.
If it really bothers you that much... Go buy a corvette and throw a 7M or a JZ engine in it:naughty:

I really don't see the problem with a LS1'd Supra, let's be fair, the 7M is hardly the perfect building block for cheap power on the other hand you have can make a lot of power on a LS1 without breaking the bank. It's a same that all the Chevy's they have shipped to europe are eco shitboxs or I'd consider doing a LSx Series swap very seriously.

I'm also considering a 1uz or 2uz swap, but I'm being put off by one of the main reasons I've been put off the 7M and 1J, the small aftermarket for the motors (Well, at least in England), that's a problem that the LSx series of motors don't seem to have.

heh its funny because he thinks that everyone has to be completely credible and serious in OT but he can't simply see sarcasm or humor, yet he himself decides that since he puts the asterisk it makes his IQ higher. I remeber when he used to make "jokes" and say stupid shit but when osmeone like myself would say something similar would be flamed by him
that itself shows he is part of the "lower IQ" of SM
