Ok, fine, my car has dents, but at least it's one damn color... It's also a DD and most of my money goes into what matters for a DD, the mechanicals...

Many of the MKIV's have more in the chroming/polishing of the engine bay that we have in our whole cars, so anything they say honestly goes in one ear and out the other.

Most of the cool MKIV guys started with MKIII's and MKII's, and know how it is with the cars...

The "buy in" for a MKIV is more expensive but it is generally easier to get show ready. Lets see what the average MKIV looks like in ten years if its driven to the milage that I see MKIII's going to. Most MKIV's are second or third cars if not one of a much larger collection so they don't get the wear and tear MKIII's got before they were deeemed collectables. Think about it, most MKIV's were only a few years old when F'n'F came out. Up untill then they were depreciating like every other car out there. In 98 I had the oppotunity to buy a 95 6-spd targa for $24,000 with 2X,XXX on the clock. Now that same car could fetch up to $50,000. Had some thing like this happened with the MKIII, the average guy could probably not afford one.
Gixxer way to go. And for the rest of us just enjoy your car. If you take your car to a show make sure its show ready. Otherwise you hurt the image of all MKIII's.

Here is the drag vid

View My Video

I'm not even worried about the people talking crap...

What brought it on was I heard some folks in the parking lot talking about how a piece of shit mk3 won trophies in two events...

My car is by NO means the best or even close to it out there. But, its come a long way in four years, and will go further in the next four.

Anyway, enjoy the video, and I expect to see ALL of you in TX next year

Thanks for the vid. MAN, Im still shocked at how close of a run it was. My dad was telling me that the crowd was all excited when we rolled up to the line, so I think we put on a good show and repped well for the MK3 community.

LMAO.

Just tell any cocky MKIV owners to get on Pinks and be the first import to beat a domestic.

Oh wait, the MKIII already did that! :naughty:

Thanks a lot. Your car a perfect example of how all MKIIIs should be kept. Yup, will definitely have to meet up for 2k9.

They'll just say that Pinks is a retarded show.

Oh wait they already said that too.

I thought Woon auditioned for the show. The only thing that can compete with his car is something that is trailered out of necessity. Not because they want to keep it show car clean. So maybe that is why he isn't on.

I love watching Pinks.

I don't know why people would think that guys who have $60K+ invested in a MK4 would think that a MK3 with almost no money invested in aesthetics was nice? And why should you care? I mean honestly, if you want props from most car enthusiasts for a clean MK3 it's going to take a LOT of money. Most of us are not into MK3's because we have tons of money.

I'm sure several of you will get mad at my post.... but here it goes

Thats because most of the MK3s are pretty trashy. Seriously. At the Texas meet I was embarrased to have a mk3 there. Half of the mk3s there looked like complete garbage. Engine bays were dirty and nasty. Shit was just thrown together. I really see why the mkiv guys see the mk3 as they way they do.

I mean jesus, take pride in your car and clean it up. Take the time to make it look good. Paint your parts, Keep the stuff polished, clean up shitty wiring, clean it. Its really sad.

My buddy put it best.

"Thats a MKIII, but I have a supra."

You called it plain as day, MKIV owners spend a lot of money and spend a lot of time on making their cars perfect. And when you compare that to most MKIII's there is no comparison, people try to rig up their car to be as fast as possible while looking the worst and doing it the cheapest, and the MKIV owners see this. I don't blame them for having that opinion about the common MKIII, for those who complain just do things right, it all comes down to taking your time and doing things clean, and spending the time and money to make a respect worthy MKIII. If you cheap around everything people are going to see that, I know all of this is known by most already but only a few exhibit it. Just my 2 cents.

True, there are lots of things you can do to the car that don't cost anything at all. Some degreaser and a rag would be a good place to start for most MK3 engine bays. Cleaning up or replacing old ass wiring looms and painting rusty parts is another no brainer.
