I came across this 89 240sx coupe. It is one of the best "sleeper" cars I have ever seen.:icon_bigg Stock rims with hubcaps on the back...Only thing that would give it any clue of being anything special is the exhaust, but you can put an exhaust on anything. Another thing that jumped out at me was the obvious 2JZ motor...but what got me was that they used the R154 (from 1JZ). Couldn't he have just used the Getrag 6speed?(Pretty sure that is what it's called)...or is there something I'm missing. Dynoed at 409rwhp. Nice Daily Driver, that's for sure.:naughty: ...And it's for sale!

IIRC, the getrag is a fair bit bigger, so harder to fit in a transmission tunnel. Also, it might have started life with a 1J in there, in which case it's easy to swap in the 2J later and keep the existing tranny.

Yes, very true. I've seen several 1J's in 240's and also he made it out like he did all custom work...I don't know. I like it a lot though.:)

not to mention that the getrag is several thousand dollars more compared to the r154, of which there are many available.

also...to mention that with the most rearend in the 240 most likely being close to that of a mkiii, the getrag transmissions 1st gear would be a moot point..

people swap front ends and call them sil80's as seen above (180sx is the hatchback with popup lights) and silvia nose on a 180sx is a onevia or something like that.

ive got a friend here in arlington that has a RB26 swapped into his 240 hatch, it has a T51R DBB, 1600cc's, AEM standalone, greddy plenum, all that good stuff, it makes 800 rear wheel with no probs, it scares me

and its also a completely stock body w/ stock rims, only downside is he has no traction ever
