Another sad update...

My speedometer's cable upper part torn.
You guys know it came with 2 cable parts from factory-i really don't know why?-If anybody knows please let me know.

So the lower part comes from the transmission under the car and it is approximately 30 cm long and it is connected to the other upper part which goes up to the speedometer through the hole on the firewall.
This small hole is just behind our big long engine so if you wish to reach it you have around 5 cm place -so it was hard as hell
I really don't know why it is from 2 parts so I made a one piece brand new cable also attached the heat covers from original cable.
I had to dissamble the inside to reach it-so new cable was ready to install...
On the firewall hole there was a small round rubber piece to lock the whole-I couldn't even reach it but with this rubber on it , it was impossible to pull out the cable -this piece was stucked as hell so I had to cut it...
After we replaced the cable assamble everything inside I tried to put back this small rubber, but because I cut into it a little it has loosen its shape -so i could fit it into the whole only a little bit so half of the hole is open now...

My question is and please help me:
Can I have any problems becuse this half way covered hole ?

I never wash the engine so I think the only thing is that it alows some air through the hole...

My speedometer is working again shows my speed well and started to count the kilometers again just reached the 237.000 km on it...:naughty:

Stay tuned and if you have any idea about this hole or if you think it is a problem to make the 2 piece cable into one -please let me know....

I think your idea is brilliant making a 1 piece speedo cable. I'm pretty sure the rubber grommet is there to prevent rubbing that can eat through the speedo cable and cause it to break. Any pics of your speedo cable and how did you make it?

Sorry Adam

No pictures I didn't have my camera with me ...
First I dissambled the dash pull the gauge panel out and disconnected the cable.
After that i opened the front and cut this small rubber grommet on the hole ,removed it , so the cable had just enough place to pull it out -it had a green hard plastic connector at the end ,it just came out very slowly you have to play with it- ...and there is absolutely no place so you need to have a small hand otherwise don't even start it hehehe:biglaugh:
The cable goes just behind the engine if you face the car , to the left and after it goes under beside the engine ,behind the turbo
So I went under the car and disconnected the other end of the cable from the transmission.
I got a 1 meter long cable - from the parts a 40 cm long and a 60 cm long, they were attached to each other with a joint(hope i say it the right way- i have been living in the US / Florida for a year but it was in 1995-96 and from that point my english is getting worse...)
So I had this cable , i measured it and made a one piece same length and connected this green hard plastic connector on the speedo end
After I had it ready I put it through the firewall hole , connected the green end to the speedometer's spiral-it was very hard no place and really couldn't see anything
The fifth try was successfull :biglaugh:
After that i put the inner cable/wire we call it bowden into it and tested it
If you grab the inner line and and move it round / route it inside the needle should move a little-that's how you can test it
Important that the inner line should be long enough to reach the spiral...
After this I went under the car and reconnect the other end to the transmission/here make sure that the heat covers are back on the cable cause there can be really hot-protect the cable

Done works nice and smooth

Hi all

I had a small problem again:

On the highway over 130 kmh (90 mph) beside the water temperature a small red signal starts to come up with a loud beep-beep sound.
The temperature shows absolutely normal like always,no water running out everything seems ok checked everything ...
This warning comes up only at highway speed ,but the water temperature needle shows absolutely ok (and it works ,checked it)
We checked everything -thermostat,oil,water-everything is ok...????

I asked your help on this forum and I got a really interesting answer:

some European Market cars have the same speed warning beeper fitted, Normally goes off over, 110kph ish(from memory) I ditched the one on my Jdm car. Just remove the gauge cluster you will see a small white box on the back near the speedo with 2 wires( again from memory) just remove these and the box job done! no more beeping.
(thanks for martin p )

One more thing .I will also have to repair my check engine light (never worked) so I will be able to read the codes....

On the 14th of May I am going to one of my friends shop ,hopefully he will help me repair these electronic issues...

And the back light's paint mistake will be taken care of also by the end of this month
My sweatheart will also get a nice full polishishing...

So hopefully she will look real nice by the end of this month

I will inform you all on the speed warning problem sollution
And will post some new pictures up after polishing also...

So stay tuned
Thanks for looking:biglaugh:

Hi all

Update

So the speed warning is a small black thing located on the back of the board, just beside the speedometer incoming cable....
You don't have to cut the 2 wires just have to remove this small black round thing(Made in Japan cars only) and no more beeping....

We fixed the check engine light so I can read codes now ----:naughty:

You remember guys I bought the car in a very bad shape -somebody removed the W wire from the joint going into the computer -I am sure that by that time the check engine was coming on constantly annoying the hell out of him-but he did not remove the bulb noooooo-he removed the wire (IDIOT)

So now this works also and I am very happy

Some other issues came up will be fixed next week so stay tuned I will keep you on the loop...

Also try to post a picture of this speed warning black round thing just in case a japanese supra pops up at you claiming the beep-beep sound(hehe)

So

STAY TUNED

Hi all

Update time

Last time I mentioned that we will need to work on the rear axle...
So I got 4 lower suspension arms and took them to my friend ...
He will upgrade them all with poliurethane bushings.

I also received a nice little package today with all my brand bolts new from the factory
