I still say road race day. That was the best part of the 2003 show. It's just too bad most Supra peeps just want to drive straight :(

We are working on a partnership with an outside company to have a full road course available. Their current plan is to have the track available all weekend. They typically have no troubles filling Saturdays (and most of us will be up at the dragstrip anyway) so we'll be sending people over on Sunday. The good part about this is there is no burden on the SILV budget or staff to make this happen. As soon as we have more information it will be posted.

CK - We would love nothing more than to celebrate every flavor ever imaginable but with current budget limitations we have to go with the biggest bang for the buck. There just aren't that many 1Js that participate in the Dyno Challenge (that I recall). We had to make the distinction in the case of the 2J because they already have a segment of the day dedicated to them.

As we are still defining the Dyno Challenge this year we will look into the possibility of further additions.

Glad to hear so many people are already making plans to join us this fall in Las Vegas!

I also just found out that the LV Mustang Club is holding their mega annual event the same weekend we'll be out there so there should be plenty of 'Stangs out there to play with if you can get them to come out of their hiding places. :)

I dont see why the 1js couldnt compere in the "mkiii batle royale" assuming its in an mkiii body. Unless its gonna be the "7m battle royal"....:) This is just a suggestion, but i think a "mkiv battle royal" (with the likes of woon, saad, etc.), a "mkiii battle royale" (with tony, myself, duane, etc.) And a general session, where anyone who wants to can dyno....Simple and effective i suppose.

Also, Keith, although i am 3000 miles away, i'd love to help in anyway possible. If you need me for anything, dont hesitate to ask. :)

Thanks for the offer for the help. We are in the process of putting together what we need and hope to have that available soon.

The last two years this even was just three days (Scenic Drive/Poker on Thurs, Show on Fri, and Dyno/Drags on Sat). 2003 was four days (dyno was on Sunday). The big problem with Sunday is all of the people with the shortest drive (SoCal and AZ) want to use that day to drive home. They don't see the bigger picture that if they want to use Sunday to drive home they have to come out a day earlier. So they take 3 days off one week rather than 2 days off one week and 1 day off the next. Oh well.

If the Road Course happens this year we will expand out to a four day event again. The AZ crowd doesn't enjoy turning anyway. ;)

I'm getting more and more anxious to go!!!
As it turns out I'll be staying at a Hilton, but not sure what about transportation and whatnot.. I guess I'll figure it out as the time approaches.
Brandon, you can bet I'll be reppin the SM shirt too, provided I get it!! lol...

Road Course would be siiiick. After all, what good is IRS without a place to show it off?

Why the Hilton? Just checked out their website:
Wed.27 $165.95
Thu.28 $165.95
Fri.29 $115.95
Sat.30 $115.95

Our rates at the Luxor have been below that.

i'm bad, i'm nationwide
hi keith looking forward to attending this year, i'm the (hung over) truck driver that chatted with you while the show and shine was being set up last year. the mk2 i told you about was given to my stepdaughter and i have since purchased 2 mk3s. not going to have car there this year but wife and i have made plans to spectate this year and make family event next, with step daughters car and one of mine finished.

anyway, heres an idea, not shure how practical it would be

how about a "real street supra challenge?" yes 1200hp mk4s are cool, but how about a class for rest of us?

here's the idea
open to any supra with anypowertrain combo
cars must be run on senic drive on pump gas, no racing fuel
cars must be registered, stickered and insured in home state(no trailer queens)
set up points ranking system, using dyno numbers, best et,et al
show and shine voting by event sponsors..or something similar
i dont think anything special would have to be done for this, just some kind of seperate scoresheet to events already happenning
just an idea,,,

Oh yeah... I remember. Thanks for taking time to chat with me. Sorry I wasn't able to take more time but I'm sure you understand - trying to get the lot all ready for ~200 Supras and all. :)

Your idea does have some good points. I've been toying with doing something similar for the Shop cars for a couple of years now.

The plan was to assign points based on the following categories:
Highest HP - no nitrous
Highest TQ - no nitrous
Several Show-and-Shine categories (engine, interior, exterior) - judged sep from the popular vote
Fastest 1/4
Quickest 1/4

Plan would be that each car would be ranked directly against the other cars in the same class. 1st place would receive 1 point, etc and at the end of the weekend the car with the lowest score would be crowned the champion.

The problem with this plan for the regular cars is that not everyone would participate in the dyno or the drags and this would cause havoc with the scoring.

Will do some more thinking on this one and see what we can do.

I was just in Vegas last week - read some research, some relaxation, much drinking.

They were pushing their new condo developments EVERYWHERE!

I was looking at the "Help wanted" section, and noticed that the sponsor coordinator position hasn't been filled...I think It wuld be better if you had a Sponsor organization team...doesn't it seem like a lot of work for one individual? If there was a team...I think I would like to be part of it...

Not sure how many BIG MkIIIs will actually show up. So many things could happen in the next 121 days. Tony Orta is signed up to be in the Smackdown and Bryan is frantically working to finish his project to try and knock Tony off the top spot. I've also heard Duane might have something up his sleeve and a few 1Js that are planning some serious numbers - FINALLY! :)

On the Sponsor Manager position. We do have someone that is seriously considering the role (with great connections). I am just waiting on a final confirmation before pulling that one from the site.

It is great that people are looking at that link. We will have more opportunities available soon.
