We are DEEP into the planning for "The Largest Supra Event on the Planet" and we are looking for fresh/new ideas to help grow this event. We may not be able make every idea happen (money/time/staff limitations) but we will look seriously at any ideas.

One thing we need to work on is our MkIII image. What most people forget is that if you take away the ~100 MkIVs and the ~30 MkIIs you are still left with ~70 MkIIIs. We also give out MkIII specific awards for the Dyno and the Show-and-Shine. SILV's mission is to bring ALL generations of the Supra together from Magazine Cover Show Supras all the way down to Daily Driven (or sometimes not even driven) project Supras.

One change we are working on is a MkIII Battle Royal at the Dyno (to be put into the schedule between the Dyno Open and the MkIV Dyno Invitational). This new addition will be to showcase those MkIII Supra guys that are pushing the envelope to the extreme. Tony Orta will receive an automatic invitation for dropping the highest HP out of a 7M GTE on the dyno last year. Slow66 is also working on hauling his BEAST across the country to join in the fun. We would like to find one or two more MkIIIs (w/ 7M GTEs) that are out there pushing the envelope. If you are interested (and think you have what it takes) please contact me directly.

Of course the Show-and-Shine will be back along with the drags. We are working on a partnership to have a full track day available as well. Last year's addition of the Poker Tournament was a GREAT success and will be on the schedule again this year.

The MkII guys generally have a gathering for dinner - we would love to do this but need someone to step up and put something together.

As I said, any idea will be investigated and we will make any addition that we can.

Be sure to mark your calendar for September 28 - 30, 2006 and make your plans to join us in Las Vegas for "The Largest Supra Event on the Planet!" - and I'll even go out on a limb and say the largest turnout of MkIIIs on the planet.

Oh... you don't have a calendar? You can order the only Supra calendar to have a MkIII in it this year at http://Vegas.Supras.Org/calendar/order.asp?a=1ez87498 - there are actually four featured MkIIIs including Mike Urbano's 93 RHD 2JZ GTE Conversion and Chris Jensen's beautiful 89. Proceeds from the sale of these calendars goes into the budget for SILV06. Did I also mention that it was the lowest priced/highest quality Supra calendar on the market this year? Just 14.99 (down from the original price of $20.99) + shipping and you can enjoy the next 10 months with some of the hottest Supras on the planet! Noel Carandang's 86.5 with a 1JZ GTE is miss March.

Our official hotel has been the same since 1997 - The Luxor Hotel and Casino - located right on the strip with easy freeway access.

Some people choose to stay at other hotels to save a few pennies.

We are still working on the contracts for this year.

Keith, i love the idea of the MKIII dyno Battle royale, assuming there will eb enough of us participating to warrant such an event. If only 3 or 4 of us show for that, would it still be on?

Everythign sounds really great so far....im excited :D

I'm building this new part of the Dyno Challenge based on 3 MkIII participants - other MkIIIs will be welcome to participate in the Dyno Open during the morning session.

Even if it is just TonyO v Slow66 I think it would be fun - and considering we are competing for the regular MkIII Turbo Only and MkIII Unlimited awards it doesn't cost any more to have the MkIII Battle Royal.

Tony laid the smack down last year with his 824whp. You know this could get SICK!

We are also hoping to have certificates available to ALL participants. This would be a full color, frameable, certificate showing your participation in the SILV06 Dyno Challenge and your highest HP/Torque - this depends on how our budget goes this year.

I'll arrange your trailer but you still have to rent/purchase the thing and then the tow rig to haul it out and then the gas etc. :)

One of our original ideas was to develop the event and then move it around the country with different groups hosting the event each year (a model that is currently being done for the PacNW Supra Nationals up here in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and BC).

Of course one of our goals was to spark other regions to put together larger events too - even if it meant that the traveling plan listed above wouldn't work if that happened.

I celebrate all of the various Supra events around the country/world and hope to someday make it out to each one.

In the end what event to attend depends on each different person.

Would I love to see EVERY Supra currently running in North America attend Vegas? YOU BET! Do I ever see that happening? no.

Some people aren't up to that kind of drive for a Supra event. Some people are. We've had people drive/trailer in from as far away as the New England states. WOW! I thought my 2400 miles round trip was long.

You can bet that Tony will have something up his sleeve this year and we'll have to wait until this fall to find out what Ryan's dyno run actually translated to - Ryan pegged the Dyno at 1200whp without nitrous (actually his curve kept going but the numbers stopped reading).

We've been setting some records over the past couple of years:
Highest HP MkIII Turbo w/ Nitrous: 824
Most Supras gathered in a single place: 170+ (there were even more in the parking garage that didn't come out)
Most Hotel rooms sold: 120 (breaking the 2004 record of 100 - and selling out our complete block)
Most web traffic on the official SILV website for a January EVER (5GB transferred in 30 days pegging my bandwidth allocation).
Highest HP for any Supra in Vegas: 1200+ (No nitrous and the dyno was pegged)
Quickest QuarterMile: < 8.5 seconds
Number of Elvis Impersonators in attendance over the years: 2 (hey, it is Vegas afterall)

The Battle Royal won't be between the MkIIIs and the MkIVs - I don't know of a single MkIII that can play with the likes of Woon pusing something around 1400whp. This is designed to be a dedicated time for the MkIIIs to shine on the rollers - after the Dyno Open and before the MkIV Invitational.

Im down for whatever you plan Keith, whether it be mkiii battle royal, or mkiii/mkiv invitational, or whatever. I'll just be happy to be there. :D IM thinkin abotu bringing an extra shortblock juuuust in case i get a little nutty on the dyno. Im not gonna go all the way there to not push her to the limit :) Hopefully i wont make a big milkshakey mess of the dyno at 1000+whp :icon_razz

I think Las Vegas is a good place for the event.

This new addition will be to showcase those MkIII Supra guys that are pushing the envelope to the extreme.
Let them run against the JZA80. Apples to apples that is. I want to see 600bhp like malloynx did with the factory manifold and a bolt on turbo. Of course they will still have to use two.

We were talking over the past weekend with some of my MkIII buddies who are planning to go to the SILV06, including myself for the first time.
Some have attended before already.

Well they all brought up the idea of having a track / dyno challenge , but one for the stock cars, and the other for the upgraded cars, and see who could squeeze out / or have the fastest ET in each form...

Just a thought i wanted top pass on ...ofcourse the credit goes to the guys who brought it up..

2Js have their time to shine in the MkIV Dyno Invitational. I want to make sure the 7M has some time in the limelight too.

We are open to almost any idea but many of them require coordinators. If you would like to volunteer your time to keep track of the Stock and Upgraded cars we could revisit the Quickest/Fastest cars again - We actually used to do this but it became too big to manage along with everything else (why we need a volunteer to track this).
