Have you considered getting a *slightly* smaller turbo and a quick spool unit? Brad got a 500 rpm faster spool on a GT35 with just that. Nice looking curve, too, it just expanded the entire power band to 500 rpm sooner.

The HY35 is about the same wheel sizes as a GT3076R (it's the closest thing garrett sells anyway). So the GT3071R is just one step down. If I got the GT3071R I'd probably get it with the divided .78 a/r T3 housing, which should spool fast enough even without the QS valve (with it I'd be worried about surge). I'm just not sure if it's worth spending $1400 on a turbo when I'm not sure how much better it would be than a $150 set of used stock turbos.

how is it you had a 850 motor laying around?? is that a supra its going into.? when u get closer i may be able to help i learned alot about the bmw electronics during my swap, had to understand it it get the toyota working properly.. the mostimportant thing was that bmw switchs grounds via ecu, instead of switched power to relays
