CRE: No prob., glad I could help. Thanks for the links to Marlin Crawler. I got the seat and socket from Toyota, but I think I'm gonna get those and swap 'em out.
Chris89: Thanks for this thread. The bushing came off my latest shifter, and got caught up under the shift lever housing, keeping me from using 3rd and 5th. I went to the shop early today, pulled out the shifter, and took a MUCH closer look at the bushing in there, and it was TRASHED. I checked the one in my parts car today, and it was in excellent condition, so, long story short, I spent close to 4hrs. today swapping out the shift lever housings. Now I have a nice, tight shift. If you hadn't started this thread, I probably wouldn't have thought to look there until that bushing fell out(it was well on its way).
I use Permatex black, high temp, ultra RTV to seal pretty much everything I work on. If the paper gasket between the intermediate plate and extension housing is torn or broke, you need to scrape it all off to a nice, clean surface. Use a thin, even layer of RTV on both surfaces. I usually spread it evenly with the tip of my finger. Just enough so you can't see the surface through it.
