Sweet! The output shaft's oil seal is pressed in from outside!!! Oh, sorry... I just need to replace mine.

Good job with getting the washer apart, most of the members on here would probably have said to hell with it and taken it to a shop. Now the question that remains is: Can you get it back together? j/k

The black dust shield is just pressed on. Just tap it off (after you pull the drive shaft, of course), and you can pry that seal right out.

Oh yeah, hey, can you drop us a part number for the shifter housing bushing? I need to do mine to one of these days...

Good to know, thanks for the info... I guess I'll take care of that little issue next weekend.

You mean the seat?

In order for me to get the seat installed I did have to sand around the outer circumference a little. Then it flipped right in as the installation instructions on their website shows.

I'll get some pics, lol, It seems like a really simple design, I don't think i'll have much of a problem. The little locking piece where the shafts connect together on the extension housing seems like it might be a little pain. What should i get to Seal it back together? from O'reilly auto parts or Autozone? The gears, etc look really good, I'll get some pics. I'm debating on if i should replace the shaft where the shifter goes into since it's all apart now...

CRE: No prob., glad I could help. Thanks for the links to Marlin Crawler. I got the seat and socket from Toyota, but I think I'm gonna get those and swap 'em out.

Chris89: Thanks for this thread. The bushing came off my latest shifter, and got caught up under the shift lever housing, keeping me from using 3rd and 5th. I went to the shop early today, pulled out the shifter, and took a MUCH closer look at the bushing in there, and it was TRASHED. I checked the one in my parts car today, and it was in excellent condition, so, long story short, I spent close to 4hrs. today swapping out the shift lever housings. Now I have a nice, tight shift. If you hadn't started this thread, I probably wouldn't have thought to look there until that bushing fell out(it was well on its way).

I use Permatex black, high temp, ultra RTV to seal pretty much everything I work on. If the paper gasket between the intermediate plate and extension housing is torn or broke, you need to scrape it all off to a nice, clean surface. Use a thin, even layer of RTV on both surfaces. I usually spread it evenly with the tip of my finger. Just enough so you can't see the surface through it.

I just replaced the clutch on my car yesterday and took a peek at the bushing. After about six months of driving every day the bushing showed no signs of wear.(I am using the Crawler bushing.) It still looks brand new! Same thing with the seat that snaps on the bottom of the shift lever.

Okay, I've mentioned that one in a few posts in this thread, but it's not what I'm referring to in any of the posts about MarlinCrawler.

So you did replace it? Is the new bushing pressed into place?

Replaced the whole lever outta my parts car. Yeah, its pressed in. Was gonna call Toyota to see if I could get the bushing, but they aren't open Sat. here, and didn't feel safe waiting for it to be ordered. Probably have to buy the whole lever to got it. The TSRM doesn't show it as coming apart. I'll try to get a pic up of the one I took out tomarrow. Forgot to take one today.

CRE: I know which one's you were talking about from Crawler, just not sure if Chris89 and I are talking about the same part. Thanks again for the link to Marlin Crawler. Gonna get those this week.

But I'm going to also get the Marlin Crawler bushings for the seat and Shifter ball. I hope i can get my car back together sometime even know i just bought a new car, lol.
