Good info. Damn, I need to learn to weld.
It's definitely a good skill to have. I'm currently just using a 220v harbor freight welder with gas.
On another note I fixed those exhaust leaks and holy hell does it spool faster and make lots of loud turbo noises.
It's building full boost around 4700ish now. I'll have to log a run to see exactly when it does come on.

Well this is the current state. After some normal driving I have a rattle somewhere. Time to start diagnosing

So far the springs and retainers checked out, none are broken. Timing belt needs replaced I'll be upgrading to a gates racing belt.

Next on the list is checking clearances on the cams and draining the oil to inspect for metallic particles.

I haven't done a compression or leak down test as I figured it would be springs or bottom end bearings. Definitely would be a good idea to eliminate those two things though

I can't see it being you're bearings unless you starved them of oil.
Did you have the crank balanced ?
Is the rattle really loud ?
Is it doing it rattling under load or at idle ?
Are you sure it's not something other than the engine?
Did you try listening to it with a mechanics stethoscope?

Sorry for all the questions xD I'm just trying to help

The engine hasn't ever been starved of oil. Well shouldn't have, I've never ran it low on oil and am very religious on changing the oil.
I did rebuild the engine about 4 years ago and has around 20k hard miles on it.

It doesn't do the noise at idle, only around 2k ish when I blip the throttle. It also does it under slight load when driving a short distance to the gas station.

I haven't ruled out other parts of the car that would just be something simple. Since I did recently install solid engine mounts it's definitely a possibility they rattled something and rubs against a metal part.

I did take a stethoscope breifly and did notice the distributor bearing is shot. I've ordered a new one just waiting on it to show up. That could be the entire issue but I doubt it. Once the distributor comes in I'll give it another listen and see what I can find

check the driver side steering shaft cover under the intake if you still have it, mine was rattling under boost and i thought it was my turbo.
I also have solid motor mounts

im not sure if i still have the cover or not, but ill check it and see.
apparently the turbo blanket i ordered was sitting in my mailbox for 2 days and i didnt even know it arrived. threw on it so at least ill be able to run my hood again. the exhaust housing was burning up the insulation on the hood.
this is the same brand blanket i used on my hx35. its 30$ and lasted for a year or so and could have last much longer too. for that price, i figured id pick up another one but in t6 size.

The other blanket I used did the same thing. Oh well it wasn't too expensive and seems to knock down the heat a bunch.

Timing belt and distributor are scheduled to be delivered today. I'll get that on and go from there.

Timing belt is on and ready to go. I took out the ac compressor and tensioner since I don't have any wires ran currently.
I also cleaned up the greasy mess on the plate behind the crank pulley

I'm waiting to put the distributor in until after I replace the thermostat housing/neck with the new powder coated piece I have.

Also, anyone looking for a beech 7mgte cps rebuild kit, I have a brand new kit for sale. Pm me

Are you talking about the crank pulley bolt? It's standard right have thread so it unscrews to the left. To break it loose I put the car in 5th, had someone stand on the brakes, then busted it loose with a 4 ft breaker bar. Broke loose pretty easy
