+1.. even in the north imo.. a/c ftw..

OT: the new imv vid is awesome.. cant wait for their new dvd

I don't think they'll be making dvd's very often, it works better for them when they can put on nice 30 min films with advertisers and they will be more plentiful in videos, there goal was 1 film a month and they're still working on it.

I live in europe. Lots of cars imported from Germany do NOT have A/C in them. Not required when it never gets hot enough to need it. Probably similar to the cold of Canada vs. the Heat of Florida. Here in Italy...you need A/C. I wouldn't dare remove my A/C from my A70. But...if I lived in Germany, I wouldn't care about A/C. Since the original poster never had A/C in his supra...it's not really an A/C delete as a useless cleanup.

Oh, and I vote to keep Ric. I think he's an OK guy. Just very voiced in his OPINIONS.

I had a long ass reply, but I'm not gonna do it, would rather not stir up the shit storm. Short end of it, I removed A/C because I'm setting the car up for doing some road racing, and some of the road rallys. So I really want to the give the engine every chance I could to run that much cooler, and removing the A/C gave me a lot of room to put other coolers. I can live without A/C.

I always try to keep the AC installed and working, but I can see why someone might want to remove it on a car that's mainly for racing. There is some weight savings, and a lot of extra space in the engine bay when all the AC equipment is removed.

1) A70 Supra= Very leaky old car

2) Turbo+exhaust= Lots of undercar heat

Add 1+2 = Foggy windows see 3) ;)

3) AC= Best demister known to man

^^
That's what I was trying to get at, when it rains the windows have to go up, and then everything get's foggy.

Ah this car was for racing? Ah didn't see that, and there's a shitload more you can take out now! :)

LOL the point of the thread was moving the p/s, I didn't even have the a/c systme in the back of my head LOL

Yes it is going to be an over 600 hp 1.5JZ, and anything that doesnt need to be under the hood just isn't anymore. Also, it just isn't as humid here. I drove 900 miles last month non-stop in the rain, and did not need the help of a/c. Can't you just use defrost? Isn't clearing windows what it is for?

I come from a land down under
Evan: Nope doesn't work as the inside of the car is warmer/humid from any leaks it'll fog up like a bitch, only way to stop it is to crack a window but in our cars you end up getting wet (jdm rain guards would help)

AC dehumdifies the air really well.

1400whp 8 second MKIV's still have A/C and cruise control.

Still has A/C, and I don't see any clutter.

Every 1000+whp Ryan Woon, Sound Perforamnce, Titan Motorsports, PHR, etc car still retain A/C.

What makes your car more of a race car that it doesn't need it for weight reduction and to clean the engine bay? Your engine bay will never look as clean as the car I linked you to. Just curious don't start a war, I just want to know the reasoning why a car that is registered and driven on public roads would remove what IJ describes as actually a safety feature.

RM, you live in florida and survive without ac?!?!?! WOW you're a true man! I don't have AC in my car, and do just fine...but then again I'm in the pacNW where its always comfortable. But if i ever move back to FL, AC is definitely going back in. It takes a man to drive around FL wihtout AC Lol!! +1 Reign_maker.

oh and +1 to banning Ric if he keeps going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going with his opinions. Ric you know a lot, but seriously dude.. sometimes just shush.

It's not a safety feature, it's a creature comfort. The original Vipers when they came out didn't have A/C, it helps demist the windows, but so does cracking the window, which yeah you will get wet, but only when you are not moving. Rain-X brand has some anti-fog wipes to be used inside the car, they work too. My car rarely see's rain anyway. Like I said earlier in the post, A/C to me is overated, but it is a matter of opinion like A LOT of things in the automotive world.

They just started implementing A/C into GT1 and GT2 endurance cars, this past weekend was the first time it was used at Le Mans (I think). So you say look, even those cars, pure bred race cars have A/C, well yeah...if it were getting to almost 110* in my car (For several hours at a time.) and I was beginning to black out, I install it. But on a street going sports car, that has been stripped of what isn't completely necessary, not in the light of a little more power, although there is some there, or wieght although there is wieght savings there, but b/c it was never used, and not wanted. I don't have a radio either, that I do miss a lot, but it doesn't work and I don't really car to spend the money on one, when I have performance mods that I'm saving for. I removed the carpet and sound deadening too, the only thing bothering me about that is how shitty the floor looks, for the time being I'm going to paint it, but do plan to put some proper cut to fit carpet over it soon. So more power to you for keeping A/C, that's cool it's your car, and do with it what you will, but don't force your opinions onto other people.
