Any of you know a guy by the name of Walter here in San Antonio, who dumped his Mk3 for a Cressida,
and who's unkle has a Mk3 with some stuff done to it, such as HKS 85mm pistons, and runs 12s ?

i will just do things that i am comfortable with and see where that takes me.

travis: hows your custom fan?

I got to work this morning and the electrical tape had already gave out. After work today I went up to oreillys and ordered a 2jz lower radiator hose and bought a flex hose and replaced it before I left work today. And I had to cut the fan a bit more. The fan works great haha.

Yea I just talked to him on the phone today. I picked up my current w58 from him and I might buy an r154 off him at the end of this month

I'm sure it does a bit but its all I can do right now.

Alright guys the supra is going under the knife for awhile at the end of this month. Im getting a daily and I'm going to fully rebuild the entire car over the next 6 months. Fully built 1.5jz and r154. Trutrac or torsen lsd, 1 piece driveshaft, bbk, full suspension including bushings all around, aem standalone, dyno tune. And I wanna kinda "modernize" the interior and get the ac working again. And this isn't all talk, let me know if any of you guys have parts I could buy that would help.

Well, they just smoked one of the 85mm HKS pistons in his unkle's Mk3, so there goes the 3.1L.......
I told him that Wiseco & JE would make custom 85mm pistons, but I think the 8-9 hundred price tag is out of their reach.
They may take my .040 over JEs, and build another block up.

Sorry I kinda forgot about you guys for awhile, until i got a text from david last week. ha ha ha
Dont worry david i wont steal your turf!!
I've actually had a few issues to report. The damn car has developed a weird problem that i have no clue what its about. Let me give you a briefing. It will start up like nothing and drive great. If i drive it for like an hour straight (which is pretty much everyday since i live in the middle of nowhere) and try to start it up right after it wont turn over. I have to let it cool down for like an hour or two and then it will fire right up and drive flawlessly again. At first i thought alright well its the damn autozone starter i put in there, so i tried to push start the damn thing, and it will start and idle smooth but if i try and give it some gas it chokes and dies. So pretty much the push start is out cuz i cant really drive it. Like i said it only does this if my drive is long not when its short distances. I did check the starter signal wire as well as the big guage wire coming from the battery and they are all good. I even put a monster cable gold plated battery connection with a new wire to make sure the connection is good and without that line buildup. But still the same thing. Since the starter has a lifetime warranty i changed it out yesterday to see if it could be that and today will be the moment of truth. Ill keep you guys posted. Has this happened to any of you guys before?

have you ever met armondo with the 89 white 7mge (nos) and gold 5 spoke wheels?
he wants to tune my car by hooking a laptop to my stock puter...didnt know it was possible.

kinda scares me that he wants to up my boost on stock injectors.
I met Armondo a few years back and lost touch with him. I met him way back when we used to have car meets at the Bennigans over by Wurzbach. I tailed him when he ran some guy in a Mitsu 3000gt. He had his car pretty set up but as far as programming the factory computer with just a laptop thats unlikely. I did alot of research on this before i bought the HKS piggy back setup i have and it technically can be programmed but you have to use a daughter board to get the output data in order to even attempt to program it, to me it wasnt worth the trouble.

Sounds like heat soak on something electrical, maybe the ignitor or the coils.

Pick up a can of component chiller spray, and when it happens again, spray those down to cool them off, and see if the problem goes away.
Just be careful with that stuff, as you can get frostbite if you get it on your fingers.

I never would have thought of that, that's a good idea.

Nothing much here. Just lazy ass hell with the Supra build. I've been doing some bike riding with my wife and son at the park when the weather is nice. Been having more fun doing that for a while.

Here's some progress though.

Just a few more things and I'll be able to turn the key on this thing.

I drove it today and the problem seems to have gone. It was a bit chilly today so maybe that had something to do with it if it was a heat soak issue.:dunno: I do remember though feeling the starter when it wouldnt start and it would be pretty damn hot. My intake manifold would even get hot which to me was a bit odd since i have the stout hood and its usually pretty cool even after a good run. Im running the HKS DLI igniter, do you think this would overload the original? Im gonna run some errands tommorow and see what happens. Thanks for the ideas

nice work Rufus. Who welded the aluminum?

Gonna buy a compressor any of you guys have any advice I need one that will push a impact wrench. I was looking into this one.http://www.dewalt.com/tools/compressors-wheeled-portable---electric-d55146.aspx

I'm finally gonna get off my lazy ass and get some things done, like finally scraping the 90 with the bad paint job. you all remember that one.... and then pulling my 87 out of storage. Gonna buff it and make it look pretty for sell. Any one know some one thats looking for a good shell. Once i get that sold, 2jz here i come.

I just want to thank, David for yelling at me, and motivating me to get off my ass. Oh yeah and asking about my kids.:ugh: Their doing fine:ugh:

Thanks. A guy named Caleb did the welding. He's a welder/fabricator by trade. He does some amazing stuff. http://cgfabrication.com/page/7

As far as that compressor, I'm sure it would do the job just fine. 5.6 scfm @ 90psi is good. 200psi max... good. It's tank is small enough so that the motor can fill it back up with air quickly. I'd say you could use impacts & wrenchs without a problem. Just can't use anything that continously uses air like sanders for long periods of time. It's very compact, and portable. You could throw that thing in the trunk and head to a friends house if they needed some help. I'd get it.

I mutilated my 3000 pipe for some mounting tabs & base plate.

I'm going to have them welded up to this pipe.

Here's the upper pipe fitted up.

As you can see from the above pic that I don't have much room for a filter. I thought about running a periscope style CAI, so I won't be getting all of that under the hood heat through the intake. It would be angled like so for that MaD tYtE jDm look Y0!1!! Would ya'll still roll with me? Don't worry I wouldn't leave that pipe all rusty, I'd paint it.

Don't be hatin on the peri-style CAI!

How much are you asking for the '87? I have a friend that keeps asking to buy my Supra. He wants one. Does anything come with it as far as drivetrain? Harness & ECU, tranny....?
I'll direct him to this thread if he's interested in it.
