Mike, yeah I've started to chop and cut the downpipe to fit. So far all I've done was start the pipe from the v-band straight down. I had to cut and rotate it back to 90* so it can shoot straight down. I also had to shorten it so it can clear that heatshield. I have to take it to a friends shop and use his welder. Then I have to hang the cat-back exhaust and begin to route the rest of the downpipe to it. I'll get it done soon. I hope.

BTW, the good thing is that if we were to line up our econoboxes to race the police wouldn't even know we were racing even if they were behind us. That's untill we wouldn't start hitting monsterous speeds over 75mph. Then they'd know something is up.

I went to a friend shop to use his Hobart flux core welder to weld it up. First time using his machine, and it didn't go all that great. I welded it, but didn't really get good penetration. There was no adjustment for wire speed, and heat adjustment was very limited. One heat setting was a little too low, the next setting available was too hot. So I did what I could and tried to grind the ugliness off. I'll try to access a better welder on the next piece I fit up and weld.

Where did you get these two pipes rufus? That's the only piping I need to have complete hard piping on my car. I was quoted 450 at a shop to do it...eff that now I remember why I do everything myself

Yeah, it looks like I might have to make use of all of them. I'll see. I'm going to mock up the lower intercooler stock hose and see If I can duplictate it somehow. Of course the new piping is a little larger than stock. We'll see how it goes. Thanks David.

Guess what this is.

Yep.... you guest it. It's my dependable daily driver or so I thought on the side of the road.

I changed out the spark plugs, wires, distributer, and rotor. Then took it for a spin around the block. My engine just cut out on me. It ended up being the only part of the ignition system that I didn't change out. The ignition coil. It's not off to a good start.

It's cool man, I might buy one of those universal piping kits off ebay

There's not much more you can replace now though lol just do a compression check and timing belt package just in case, it'll last another 100k at least easy. It idled great.
Now you need to lower it and throw some rota's or stock painted rims on there. Rattle can it flat black and tint the tail lights. Oh and make sure whatever spoiler you get is higher than the roof and wider than the trunk. And just leave the exhaust in your garage

rufus maybe make a S from your turbo to pipe. cut the U pipes up

or maybe force a 45deg coupler on it, eventually it will mold to it.

dont forget to sand the ends of the pipes so they dont slip off

Hey David, how did you run your pipe from turbo to intercooler? Any pics?
I'm about to throw in the towel and run with some 2" silicone hose and a little bit of piping on that hose. Besides, I'd have to use reducers on both the turbo and intercooler ends if I use the 2.5" piping. My old school intercooler has 2" connectors on it. I'll keep the other pipe from the intercooler to throttle body 2.5".

sorry no pics of it from the turbo to the intercooler.

this is my setup from turbo: (2/2.5) coupler to 45deg pipe / 2.5 coupler / 5in straight pipe / coupler / 4in straight pipe / 90deg to intercooler (both 5 and 4in straight pipes have to flex in coupler about 20deg so it will line up.)

I guess I'll try to get creative. I'm just being lazy and wanted an easy way out. I'll get back at it again. It's just how my turbo sits on this manifold, and how I have to clock the compressor housing makes it a little difficult to run it straight down. I'll go back to the drawing board and see if there's another way to attack it.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
