so how reliable would u think getting one like that link? would they cool just like a regular koyo?

Judging from past experience and other comparisons the koyo would be thicker, I think mine would be equivilant to a Fluidyne.

I think the order of thickness (at least according to MK3 sizes) goes Fludyne being the smallest (a little thicker than stock), Koyo (medium) then PWR (thicker) and biggest (can't think of what it was called but it had grooves on the top and didn't leave much room for fan clearance.

I can say that the Koyo unit is awesome, my temp meter droped each time I got on the gas. It broke two 160 thermostats :aigo:.

I think I understand what the differences are between the two now. One is for the KA24DE and one is for the SR20DE. Im still doing research on which is which.

^ why would you spend the extra $100? Check out cya's link.

What I haven't seen mentioned is how does our fan shroud mate up with this thing? Or would we also need the S14 shroud? And, would that need any modification?

what are the demenshions of the s14 vs. the mkiii rad? are they the same or just alittle different? first post says similar but can we be alittle more specific?

MK3 1JZ Koyo:

Core: 14 3/4" x 25" x 2 1/16"
Top/Bottom Header: 2 3/8" x 25 15/16"

S14 SR20DET/KA24DE Koyo:

Core: 14 3/16" x 25 3/8" x 2 1/16"
Top/Bottom Header: 2 3/8" x 26 5/16"

It seems as though the only difference between the s14 radiators are the top connectors.

Can anyone inform us if the 1JZ radiator and the 7mgte are the same? I can't find any specs for the 7mgte radiator specificaly.

The S14 radiators will fit in the MKIII with a little modification. I am in the process of putting a Koyo S14 radiator in right now. The bottom mounting brackets fit the stock location, however it pushes it closer to the battery than the stock radiator. You must fab new top mounting brackets and switch the thermostat housing around. Other than those two issues, the S14 radiator will fit almost perfectly. Plus, getting a Koyo radiator for $250 as oppossed to $425 for the MKIII, the few minor modifications are well worth the time and effort.

Hmmmm...I was thinking that if it works with the Ron R. long runner I could make more room for a bigger air box im thinking of building. YES!!!!:icon_bigg !

Purpose of the shroud is so you get the full benefit of your fan. It directs the air to the radiator, not letting it just escape to atmosphere.

Hmmm...If the fan shroud fits, trust me, that'l be the only radiator we will EVER need.

As far as the Koyo S14 radiator I have (pictured), it's for a KA motor, not the SR. Both the top and bottom outlets sit on the passanger side of the car. I never really liked the long radiator hose, so I went with the KA instead. The dimensions are approximately 2 1/2 inches thick by 16 1/2 inches high by 26 1/2 inches long.

Cya- I think Ron's FFIM would work, however I think it might be tight. The S14 radiator sits about 1 inch closer to the passanger side than the stock radiator.

As for the stock fan shroud, I have dual Flex-a-lites, so I can't say whether or not it will work.

Actually................

I have an S13 and my 87 Supra in the back yard with motors and radiators out of the cars. I could test fit the stock S13 radiator with shroud into the 87, but the motor and fan won't be there to check that part

I like the idea of cleaning up the engine bay. Pics are a must!!! My only concern is how well it will cool with the inlet and the outlet on the same side vs. going across the radiator.

I am working on finding the right radiator hose for my setup. I am not sure how much difference there would be between the two, but a good question none the less.

did you use the same radiator for the 1j as the 7m? Assuming you did a swap of course.

I have a 7m not a 1J. I was going to do the swap, but I am considering staying with the 7m. That is until I have a BHG and get fed up....

Why would you spend money on a radiator that does not directly fit right when you can get the CSF unit, that is dual core, thickest on the market and sells for about 200.00 street price?

If I had not already bought my Fluidyne, I'd have the alluminum tank'ed twin core CSF setup.

I belive the one I looked at was 180.00 USD.

And it fits like it was made for the Supra.. Which of course it was. :)

Stock radiator shroud fits like a glove, has the right mounts for our electric AC fans, but I don't remember if there was a cooler for the automatic trans...
