So you are building this car but don't even know how to drift? :nono:

There ARE "drift days" on the east coast. Tons of them. VIR, Summit Point, Englishtown New Jersey. Look up Drift Nirvana, Clubloose, to name a few venues.

I've messed around with drifting but not for any extended periods of time; aka runs through wallyworld parking lots. I've watched countless videos and read about it as much as I can. The nice thing about this build is the car as a whole won't be ready for probably 2-3 years so I have plenty of time to learn.

Thanks for posting some good info about drifting. I'm new to the drift scene so anything helps at this point.

THIS is what I really would love to do for a living....Gymkhana

Yeah, there's drifting all over the east coast and has been for like 6 years now.

But this motor sounds like it's going to suck in a drift car. Unless you're awesome and doing super fast tracks. But anything where you have to slow down, you're going to hate it.

And a drift car build with just an engine spec sheet?

But seriously, I would hold off on the super crazy, big twin, 800hp build until you know how to drive. Watching videos and reading about it doesn't count. Even 400hp would be a lot to learn on. You'll just end up developing bad habits or suck at it so much that you give up.

Did I miss the part about chassis setup. You know the things that actually matter in a drift car?

Cool motor build for power/

Im supprised I missed this thread untill now.
It sounds like this is going to be awesome, and I like the idea of beating super cars with an almost 20yr old yota.

But buy a separate drift vehicle, Supras are not great to start with but one with that much money in it drifting.. makes me cringe!

Im still interested in seeing the finished product.

Good luck.

I have a good feeling this is just gonna a be a pipe dream. Dream too high to materialize. Turboing NA block. Too lazy to pick up turbo block that's laying around everywhere. High horsepower for drifting? Too much bullshit for me.

It really isn't about the horsepower. While HP and TQ definitely play BIG roles in what is going on with the build, I put more emphasis on factors such as reliability, functional and controllable mid-high range TQ, and driveability/comfort. I guess my goal really is trying to get the mk3 to have a supercar feel and look but just for 1/10-20th of the cost.

Might want to revise your choice of turbo if thats your aim

I think the technical term is masturbating with both hands

I guess the nay sayers will have to wait for something more aesthetically interesting. Can't blame them I guess. The reason there is ONLY an engine build sheet is because that is the current project. I don't think I could dumb it down any further. Anyway, let me get back to groveling for your support.:sarcasm:

Oh,
If your one of the people that actually have taken an interest, thanks!.

How have you been groveling for support? You list an engine build for a magical,streetable,drag/drift/autox, 800hp,reliable 7M powered MK3 with no plans for chassis/suspension,then start a thread asking if the engine block can even handle it,IMO, it sounds like maybe you should have researched more on your engine platform first.Hell, even the people that think your build is a waste of time/money told you good luck with your build.Don't see why you would have to "dumb it down" for anybody, nobody has given you anything other than constructive criticism/information even after requests for pics and repeated questions directed towards you have gone unanswered(I.E. susp./chassis plans.)Have you even posted a pic of the car yet?
On another note, learn to take a joke,or you probably wont like to many people on here.:sarcasm: :biglaugh:
