I didnt do any prep work, the body was straight, some lil problems here and there. I paid 250 for them to prep it and the rest was paint and taxes. I actually got it painted at the local Maaco, but two things: One the owner of the local maaco is a huge car fan and has a ton of classics, and two he's friends with my GF's dad, BUT that really doesnt appear to have had any impact on the paint job, because all the cars ive seen go in or out of there looked damned good esp for the money.

Not to say that i didnt see the difference between a car in there getting the SHOW CAR treatment and what I and most of us low rent drivers got, but for what i paid my expectations were well exceeded. Now i just have to touch up the black bits w/o fuggin anything up...

DAMN this car...its cursed i say!

Put in the new radiator, shroud, 160 thermostat and hoses.

Also I have some front powerslot rotors, axxis pads and lines coming from driftmotion, but i couldnt stand the squeaking from the front wheels anymore, and braking was getting a lil iffy so i went ahead and put some brake pads from autozone in...decided to use an old ceramic brake paint kit i had laying around too...

But the cursed part is...
The car doesnt overheat but the radiator cage light is on. I found a loose/broken connector on the thermostat that i will try to replace. I dont think its a BHG as the car boosts up w/o issue...or at least has
also...
An issue resurfaced with a boost leak killing the car, i know where/what it is, i fixed it once before but tried to again tonight but was too tired, and think i am going to try to fix it the right way and finally for now.

Hrmmm I am thinking it will be better and cheaper to buy a 1j/2j already swapped car than to do what i wanted with this one...

And i wouldn't be against having a 5speed again...

Im exploring my options both for a swap or a purchase any insight, info or car for sale let me know.

Thanks Scott, Ill undertake that once i get a day off. Probably Wednesday. I am considering a few options with this car, the harness needs to be repaired at the least if not replaced. And I am finding a few little things here and there that really tweak me. I may need to get up with you and buy a bunch of parts off ya if you got them...might build up a strong 7m for this one after hearing some of the $ and time on a 1j or 2j swap. But right now not sure.

Im pretty sure you can drop it down to a 160 without any ill effect. If not im sure ill find out about it or someone will tell me about it.

Well besides that I'm sick, i've been sick and im sick of being sick. Ive got no voice and a hacking cough AND I NEED my SUPRA BACK.... So Fugg it,Might as well spend money right. After looking into a 1j/2j swap, building the 7m, etc... and several shops I finally decided to have the 7m rebuilt. Shes getting:
EAGLE RODS, JE PISTONS .20 overbore, Clevite 77 rod and main Journal Bearings as well as their thrust washers, cometic head gasket, toyota timing belt and tensioner, toyota oil and water pumps, arp main and head studs, as well as of course a full gasket kit. The block and crank are getting getting sent out and theyre going to replace the one piece of intercooler piping that wasn't a hardpipe for some reason.

They're going to flush the tranny out, reconnect, recharge and fix anything wrong with the AC as well as fix a few other things.

So in 1.5-2 weeks I will have her back and running! YAH!

I am going to go ahead and put on the powerslot rotors, axxis pads and SS brake lines

O yeah the DM intercooler is going in as well as recircing the Blitz DD BOV.

I am going to hold off on a a turbo, injectors, afpr, tuning device for a bit, and just run the car stock to maybe 10psi for 6months or so THEN add the good stuff. I want to finish getting the new dash, gauge cluster, LED's, the few interior trim pieces that need replacing or cleaning, tint , new alarm and some stereo tweaks in and get everything sorted out.

Well screw it!!! I decided to go ahead and order a DM 57 trim Ct26 and an AFPR. Going to have it all put on at once. Im not really shooting for any sort of insane numbers or times so much as reliability for now.

Plus thinking I may try to pick up a 5spd 1 or 2j as well in 09...or a 1j toyo truck.

1.5-2 weeks.................I'd plan to be without her longer than that.

Well i should get her back thurs or friday now. The reason my brand new battery is dead isnt only because the amp wire for remote was wired wrong, but becaue the alternator is shot!

Better have it back thursday or friday GD or im going to buy another car for a DD...which i know, i know i should have (and kinda do, my bro in law has my truck)...borrowing dads playtoy for now.

WOOT got the supra back tuesday night. Shes running pretty good,BUT ..i think it needs a tune/some adjustments there is a light sputter at times. There are some issues beyond the rebuild i need to work on that may fix this...anyone have a junction block for sale?

But ive decided i do miss banging gears soooo I think i want a 1j/2j 5spd too...for a second-ish car. Anyone know of some good ones in the Southeast or willing to ship

Yes I MAY sell the supra even after all the work! Kinda dont see the point in two automatics...and I'd like a 1 or 2j...but my wad is spent. So without selling the supra i cant allow myself to get a 5SPD 1 OR 2J BEAST!

Please don't sell that car!!! If you want a 1/2jz so bad, start gathering parts to do a swap. I had an 86.5 that I converted to a GTE that I had rebuilt and pretty much restored the interior. It just lacked bodywork to be just about perfect. I up and sold it for a my current 91, which I love btw, but I keep thinking how nice my 86.5 could have been now had I kept it and had it painted. To see it click on the What in the hell...link in my signature.
