red neck rod fix. there was a thread about it.

Someone in that thread mentioned that the mkii had enough room to pull the pan by simply unbolting the motor mounts and jacking up the tranny. I'm not sure that'd work on a mkiii. Worth a shot i suppose. Jack it up and look at it for 5 mins and see if there is any possible way you'd have enough clearance.
I would hate to have to tackle this job with the motor still in the car, but I read that thread on how to do it and it seems possible, just maybe takes a little more patience.

It can't hurt to try and jack the motor hella up like the mkii people do. The tranny and everything is really fat so I don't know how much space you could get.
Honestly if you have a good engine I'd just get the harness and swap it in. Are you considering taking the rotating assembly out of one engine and putting it in the other? These aren't chevy's, our engines have very tight specs and I personally wouldn't try it,

Its pretty straight forward, line the engines up and whatever different switch it over. I don't know your automotive background but I'm getting a " I have never done a engine swap" vibe, if thats the case find a buddy who can give you hand, look over the tsrm and just remember how you took it out because thats how your going to put it back in.
