do you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge? this will be my next investment for sure. i'm also looking into ways to improve the oiling system.

This is an example of why not to do a headgasket replacement without disassembling the bottom end. All that work for 2k miles is not really worth it.
With the bottom end apart you would have seen the excessive wear on the bearings, and/or cylinders causing the oil consumption. I'm not saying this to bag on you Kyle, hopefully others will see why fixing a bhg with just a hg replacement usually does not pay off in the end.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Aaron, and I wish I had taken some time, and some money to just go ahead and rebuild the whole engine.

Born2drv-
No, my stocker wasn't even working as it was.

Tony-
We'll see what happens, I'm going to talk to my parents tonight and see what my options at this point. I might be able to take a corner of the garage. I just don't have an engine stand, or cherry picker or anything.
I dunno, I'm just really sick of all the problems I've had with this car, and I'm tempted just to get a low mileage, good condition mk3 that I can start from scratch, or near scratch.
and tony, I think heff called the turbo yesterday, if he was serious, he'll have first go at it I think.

I dunno. It'd be a good experience and everything to rebuild, and I could just do my fuel and everything while it's down I suppose. We'll see.

and Duane.
That is really weird. I was hanging out at the meet last night and there were some really clean ae86's and I actually considered it. Doubtful though.

OH MY GOD IJ i did not realise you were back. err...around.

anyway... sorry to hear about your loss. is rod knock really a given after a BHG rebuild? i dont want to end up with rod knock down the line. i cant afford it. i hate the thought of it but i might have to sell my car. i cant take time for a rebuild either.:icon_conf

BTW...how many quarts is totally safe to run in the 7mge? are there any downsides? i have 5 in there right now i believe.
