(Revised, Coin Holder Mod) My new Manual Fan switch install what do you think?

Manual Fan switch install what do you think? Just added a manual fan switch for the condenser fans. How does it look? Personally I am trying to keep everything stock and I really do not like it. Any suggestions or pics would be appreciated.

On a side not I was looking at the wiring diagram on the tsrm and I think I can put a tems switch into my center console and use it as a simple ground switch Open/Closed. My car does not have tems but the tems switch could be used to run the fans and look stock.

just dont forget to hit the switch when it gets hot... why not just wire it to the ignition so there on the whole time?

Better to let the car warm up without the fan vs with the fan on full blast.

I like mine though, it has a build in LED, so you KNOW when its one or off. None of that "forgetting" stuff... haha

And it doesnt take very long to wire in either... espeically if you actually know what your doing...

Holy crap, wiring it up to the TEMS switch is fucking brilliant! I think I should do that with mine!

Anyways, e-fans drain a LOT of power when they are on, and like Nash said, its far easier to get up to temperature with them off. This is why BMW factory shrouds have flaps in them.

Are you using all of the rocker switches over by the fog light switches? Or do you have a coin holder in there?

No I am not. Funny you should mention that because I just popped off that panel and pulled out the coin holder. Even thought about buying a oem hazard or fog light switch to wire it into. Got to go visit the tsrm again.

Got the coin holder in my pocket now. Looks like it is deep enough to put a small switch inside and the switch handle would be long enough to protude out when you open the coin holder but close up nicely. RadioCrap here I come.

Honestly my engine cooling system works very well. Its my ac high pressure condenser fan switch thats on the fritz. I do not want to invest over $250 dollars to evacuate, reclaim, replace the switch and recharge. The ac guy told me to put in a manual switch and run it when the ac is on, city driving of course.

They sure due suck alot of power. When I fire mine up you can see that slight dimming or dip of the dash lights.

Thanks guys / gals

Couldn't stand that ugly switch sitting under the dash. So I came up with a new use for those coin holders in the dash. Under dash switch gone.

no, he added a manual switch for the condeser fans, they will come on when needed, or he can turn them on when he wants.

Wired my FAL's to two separate relays, run by a temp sensor threaded into the bvsv postion. They come on at around 205, and shut off around 195. I also have a manual override. I plan on moving the temp sensor into the bottom of the radiator though, for better temp readings. when the coolant heats up the fans come on, of course, but when I shut off the car, the fans will stay on for a long time, because heat rises, and so even though the coolant cools down, the hot coolant stays near the tstat(and the metal stays hot), and keeps the fans running longer than is necessary. I noticed that BMW's and VW's have their temp switches closer to the lower part of the rads.

theres no reason to run your fans above 30mph... at least with a non turbo...

highway speeds if you are over heating, you have bigger problems then whether or not your fan is working...
