Hello gentlemen,

I'm in the middle of replacing the oil pan gasket on my 1J. I see green loctite on the oil pan bolts. I've never seen this before. Usually, on my 7m, the bolts have been covered with FPIG.

Should I replace the green Loctite or can I use FPIG?

Thanks,

Matt-

I noticed the loctite also when I did mine. I just went with FIPG-black and its all ok. That stuff is amaizing, I even use it instead of exhaust gaskets. After the turbos of course.

i saw it i thought it was just corrosion of some type.. as it wasnt on all of the bolts..
buy new (small) bolts though if you plan on torquing them :) all of mine broke when i tried to torque the old ones hehe

I finished cleaning all of the small bolts, they look fine. There doesn't seem to be any visual signs of stress in the metal. I think they will be fine for the 6.5lbs of torque.

Thanks,

Matt-
