The sad thing is, on every forum I post on people still say +1 and -1 even though there is no rep system...

I don't get it. It's not even +1. it's +howevermuchreppoweryouhave

No. Among other reasons, if I were to turn it back on (which is unlikely, I'm not the guy who turned it off) I would reset everyone to starting levels anyway, if the software didn't automatically do so.

There were some people with rep levels that were deserved. Unfortunately, I think there were just as many people with seriously manipulated scores, and trying to differentiate the two is a monumental task.

too bad you couldn't shut off peoples rep individually, like the people who abuse it.

it's funny how rep use changes from forum to forum. it didn't last on SF, but on toymods.net it's been there for awhile and no one appears to abuse it.

I'm the guy who turned it off, and the odds of it getting turned back on are pretty slim. If it does get turned back on, it will be with a different point system and you'll have to earn the right to use the system. What all these folks did with the current system is pathetic.

Agreed, and that's why it's all going in the bitbucket.

on the post count thing...
i think post count is good to stay... its more difficult to BS that. and it helps give an idea in SOME cases how dedicated a person is to supras based on how much they contribute. its really rough at showing this especially for the newbies that come here already knowing everything, but its still nice to have.

Although having a Rep system is nice to have for several reasons...it WAS getting out of hand. At one point in which it was obvious that it was just pointless, I sort of gave in and used it in humorous ways...but for now, I think it's what we all need.

Judging someone by their amount of rep was something that several people needed to get away from...because it proved nothing.

Oh well, Hopefully things will be heading in a direction for the better!! ;)

....Next up:

High Post Count = Smarter, more popular people.
