removing the sound deadner stuff

what is the easiest way to remove this stuff? short oof paying someone else to do it?

need to replace and weld in some sheet metal to fix holes in the floor, but its chipping off very very slowly. any advice would be a help

Dry ice and a scrapper. It will freeze and pry right up.

Or if you dont like that way heat it up and use a scrapper.

Should invest in something to go back down as it will start making some noise hence the reason it was there,.

dry ice is a lttle hard for me to get, ill try heating it with my heat gun.

i will replace it once done, but its hard to weld to sound deadner

Naw its a piece of cake jkjk.

Ya it might be worth it unless you have little sections here and there. People spend hours with the heat guns and the dry ice makes it a lot easier.

i just need to remove enough to weld the new section onto, gonna try the air chisel

dont heat it up too much and it comes off in big pieces when using a scaper. It takes several hours to get it all up and it whips that ass, not a small task at all

Careful welding around that stuff, buddy of mine found out the hard way with his old Z31 that some of that sound deadener stuff is flammable.

true, though it looks like the stuff in the mk3 is ashphalt based. not that im overly worried about fires, as car will be a stripped shell when im doing the rust removal/welding,
