Oh no, VW strikes again!:

p1562205_1.jpg

A 57-year-old-lady driving an '07 Jetta caused that accident over a year ago.

From what I can tell from your posts everyone's ok and I'm glad to hear it.

Did you get all the info from the other guy? Insurance won't really care about the police report if their own inspectors determine it all happened from that accident.

True, but I think he knows that and he's trying to make sure the cop doesn't come through with his threat.

Thats fucked up.

Did you go to the hospital right after? If so i would take some papers or something if you have any or get a note from the doctor and go down to the police station and (if your moms good at talking her way through) try to get as far up in the chain of command as possible and bitch your ass off.

First and foremost he should have asked if you were alright.

+1, everyone at the bottom was useless to me.

back is sore mostly when i lift.feels like its on fire. so no work. doctor said 3 days either way.Im all sad. i was just about to begin my turbo swap. not totaled but my car WAS a 1 owner no accident with all maintenance records. car really loses value to me now cause it will never be 100%

damadge..

driver side door has .30 inch gap while passenger has less than .10.
hatch missaligned
buckled panel
molding bent in under passenger tail light
bumper support creased
car has tons of slop in the diff
car pull to one side

My car has a 3rd brake light flasher. blinks 5 times when i step on the brake and takes 10 seconds to reset. should i tell the insurance that i have on installed?

It's different for everyone, but I set out to replace mine as soon as possible, and it did help me get over the car...help...

fixitman04;1561546 said:
hate to tell you you have some serious frame/unibody damage for the qtrs to be that buckled. your car is definately gonna total. id report the cop, and id go to the doc immediatly. call a lawyer.

He went to the doc already. Good suggestions though, he should definetly call a lawyer since he has an injury so they'll be all over it. I didn't report injuries so no lawyer wanted to help, since there was no money in it.

hvyman;1561547 said:
Damn. Dont take the first offer and print out some for sale adds of a car that is = value of your car and send it to insurance to get what you should. Your car looks nice to so buy it back also.

+1

My back is hurting more.I'm taking it allot better than i thought i was going too. Adjuster called me. this is my first time ive made a claim are there do's and dont's of what to do or say? should i clean up my car before they come look, like vacuum it etc?
fixitman04;1561888 said:
make the car look like it is the most babied car ever. it makes the car look like it is worth a lot to you

Yea, clean it. I didn't, and I found out that my interior was rated a 3 out of 4. I think it was because I didn't vacuum my car for a while and the adjuster couldn't tell there was a 4 under the dirt/dust.

get a lawyer as you are injured. if it was just the car i wouldnt bother but with pain and trying to determine value its good to have an outside 3rd party involved. hope you filed a police report...

i remember seeing your car on craigslist....sucks

Thanks, you remember those pics huh. I washed it and detailed the interior to put it up for sale. It was the weirdest feeling, I was pissed but I think I kinda enjoyed it at the same time (I guess it was whenever I wasn't looking at the front end). I just couldn't wait to get rid of it, and OP I'd suggest the same (keep anything you need, of course).

Edit: Should probably update my sig huh... and my thread... threads... nah I'll do it some other day.

Yea, I did. I have the wheels, shocks/springs, and diff on my '90. When I was taking care of the BHG on the '90 it helped having the '91 to look at and see where things were supposed to go lol.

I have been calling and emailing my insurance company for 6 days with no reply after my initial claim. I called the other drivers insurance (progressive) and they have no record of their driver or my insurer reporting it to them. 6 days! is this normal? i even got a call from his co within an hour for follow up questions.

Does not seem normal to me.

Your bad luck got worse and worse. Either karma is getting back at you or you have a fat stream of good luck coming your way.

I ruled out karma right away, where's this stream of good luck that you speak of? Does it get bigger with each day that passes until it finally flows towards me?

But yea, this is reminding me more and more of mine because, well, let's just say that the events that followed almost overshadowed the actual crash. Everyone was working against me, so look out. We're here, keep us posted before making each move.

As for the 6 days that have gone by, I think CA gives you 10 to report it.

Btw, I can't remember reading in your posts, do you have comprehensive with progressive? Because I had liabilty with them at the time and they basically told me SOL you're on your own because I didn't have full coverage.

Document everything; names of the people you talk to, what time, what they said, etc.

Edit:
Oops, you don't have progressive, the other person does. I think the same applies, though, but hopefully not.

Just read all this and i thought our cops were bad over here.

General rule of thumb over here is if you get rear ended its the person who run up the back of you is at fault the fact you was stationary and he locked up his brakes to stop shows that.

The fact that the plod was having a go at you is totally out of order and you should file a report about him.

As for the insurance not knowin anything thats a strange one.

Did you take down the name of the person you called first and did you get a ref number at all?

When I had to deal with my insurance company it took at least a week, being on the phone with them about 4 hours a day, talking to 5-6 different people a day since I got transferred so much and had to re-start the process over every time since I got sent to another person when it was time to make a descion. what I ended up doing was started taking names and how long I had to wait on hold. I then went up as high as I could on the chain and gave them the 9-10 peoples names whom I had to talk to and got nowhere with them and how long I was put on hold. That's when things started happening./rant XD

Keep calling them and demand answers, what do you pay premiums for?
good luck either way

Insurance is coming on friday to check out the car. i got a huge stack of service records ready to show them. i honestly dont want them to fix it. i would rather take a check and buy a new no accident shell or do the work myself as i have access to a body shop. if they do fix it i dont think i could ever look at it the same. is there anything i should or shouldn't say or do? i hope they dont try to fuck me over and low ball me or whatever. should they know about my parts that i have? also something in my driveline is messed up and it clunks, will they say that was already there? i have a record of it just having the rear diff being replaced and a used driveshaft put in.,

bleeeeeehhh:: facepalm ::

First answer only what they ask you, clearly and understandably. leave no room for assumption. Don't side track.
You don't have to be rude, but be formal and answer their questions as simply as you can. No "stories"
No "I think" or "maby" Yes, or no. If the call is iffy they will side with the best intentions for themselves not yours.
Add information only if it help your cause, not just to add it in.
Remember they aren't coming to be knights to save you. They are here to make a decision on how to fix your car to the point it was at before the accident at the cheapest possible method for themselves.

Good luck ^_^

Keep us updated, but most of the time they lowball you the first time...

why not, if you say yes to their first, they save a crap load of money.

I've had progressive for almost 9 years. While they offer good prices in my opinion. With the encounters I have been through with them, I am not a fan of their customer service whatsoever. They get stuff done, and they do it right, but the loops I had to jump through to get them to do it was mind boggling.
