When I was 16 (21 years ago) I drove a 1978 Caprice Classic 4dr. I :wuteva: at night to the thought of owning a Supra. MKII's were brand new. You should consider yourself blessed to be able to own a hot car like that at your age. My kid will drive a beater. Grow a pair and fix the damn thing! If you're afraid of getting cold and wet then wait till the spring. You'll appreciate your car more if you have to fix it! Honda?!?! You might be able to out perform some Supras with that but you won't be stylin!

Yeah, what he said, except for that out perform part!!!!!

In my case, I disagree with people saying this car is unreliable. I bought mine two years ago and the only problem I ever had was a switch signal code, obviously fixed expense free. Every car has its problems...even the infamous civic has its problems over time, every car does. If you can, park your car and work on it slowly, while driving another car. Man I wish I had a supra in highschool though, you should be proud of yourself man. If you need the money to get a new car, then i guess you gotta sell it. It's what you gotta do. :icon_frow

dont let it go. at least its only the coolant system that you gotta take care of. i got close to buying a ford escort and selling this cuz i kept crapping fluids, but i took care of it and now i know i did the right thing.

Do what makes financial sense to you. If you feel you cant afford it then get rid of it before it breaks you financially, being broke with a broken car sucks! But sometimes on cars like these those 17 plus year old parts need to be replaced. Once you replace those then you could have a very fun and still relatively cheap car to roll around in. Thats just my .02 cents.

I'm sort of in the same boat as the thread starter...and i like what RHDMK3 said. I'm in college(finance major) and dont drive the car much so what i'm doing right now is selling it buying a beater car and putting the rest of the money into an account to build interest. By the time i take that money out I should have over a grand more!! Just my .02...

Hey kid. Get a credit card with no intrest for like 6 or 12 months and do a rebuild or head gasket replacement. That supra looks far too nice to let go. I'm also in a university right now and i know it's real tough. But get it running right and you'll be glad you saved it.

hmm, im in university with tuition fees and ive still found a way to keep mine an do a rebuild :dunno:
Yeah i could probably keep it but why struggle with money when I dont even drive but a month or two a year? Sounds much more practical from a financial standpoint to bank the money I sell it for and use the money later to buy another car when I'm out of college...

If you got full coverage I suggest taking it out to the woods, beat the shit out of it and then report it stolen. Get some insurance money and get another non problematic Supra! I had an aquaintance in HS who did that only to have his own parents find out and report to the police! LOL:)
