Hey, well i bought car in march 06, and it has been nothing but problems. Im just a high school student so i need something a little more reliable. So far coolant has leaked, fixed that, then crapped out a 200$ yellow top otima... replaced that, and finally now the car is pushing coolant into the overflow bottle, and overheating, i have yet to drive this car for not even 2 weeks straight problem free. The car doesnt overheat of push coolantinto overflow now, it disappeared? but it has only been 3 days...I am considering selling or trading for a honda, for real...The mk3 is the coolest car to me but its just not for me right now...anyone interested?

Well, everyone with common sense should know that older vehicles will have issues. Some cars (like the mk3) have specific issues that need to be addressed (BHG). The awesome thing about owning a mk3 is that there are a few different forums that can help you in your issues, but none better than good ol' supramania :)

Trust me, there wasn't a Dodge Colt forum when I needed to find out why the trans was crap :icon_evil

You can go ahead and trade it or sell it, but you know one day you'll come back ;)

spend another 300 on getting your head resurfaced, OEM Headgasket and arp headstuds and you'll be fine! sounds like a good old case of BHG or juts air pokcets inyour coolign system.

You might want to post this in the cars for sale area. I'll tell you though, I would have loved to have a supra when I was in high school. Maybe you could store it and buy a cheap beater and keep the supra for a project? If you want it bad enough, you will figure out how to make it happen. If not, then maybe it was not meant to be.

Unless you buy a new car, you're going to have problems. Might as well drive around in something that looks good between problems. If you fix your hg right then you shouldn't have any problems with it for a long time, unless you do some upgrading and don't take the precautionary measures. Good luck..........lol

I consider getting rid of mine from time to time as well. I'm tired of dumb fucks in other cars that think they have something to prove, getting stared down by cops, and all of the idiots that are associated in the car world. If I could get one of those new Camry's I'd be happy.

hehe, mine doesn't even look that good... (that'll change in about a year though!)

I think about selling my POS and jumping into something else all the time, then I get in my car, start her up (sometimes after a few tries), and then that schoolboy giggle comes out and then I want to kick myself for even considering selling.

I'm sure you've thought about it already, but I would think it out some more...maybe don't sell it, but do like someone said and just store it til you can dump the necessary amount into it

if you love the car, store it and fix it when you finished school... that's what i did, i have no regrets... and i'll keep my car forever.

if you're not totally in love with your supra, then sell it to someone who will be.

Experience: Who needs it when you have SM? I bought my Supra with a BHG, and it wouldn't even start when I was 16! I had never changed oil before, and I was thrown into a BHG job...I got on here, and learned everything I needed to know...I replaced the head gasket, with a little help from my family, and it has been totally reliable for over a year now...no regrets!

Tools: You can do a head gasket job with a tool set from Kragen (what I did), and if you can't afford it, just borrow the tools, either from someone else, or from Autozone/Kragen.

Weather: Please, that's a total excuse...throw a tarp over it and wear a poncho!

But if you truly don't feel that it is worth it, sell the car now.

When I was 16 (21 years ago) I drove a 1978 Caprice Classic 4dr. I :wuteva: at night to the thought of owning a Supra. MKII's were brand new. You should consider yourself blessed to be able to own a hot car like that at your age. My kid will drive a beater. Grow a pair and fix the damn thing! If you're afraid of getting cold and wet then wait till the spring. You'll appreciate your car more if you have to fix it! Honda?!?! You might be able to out perform some Supras with that but you won't be stylin!

I am 17, yah it is pretty $$$ sometimes but it is totally worth it. I don't know what I would do with out my supra, I think about it constantly. I never could think about owning another car than it. But do what you want thats all I can say and of course most of us are going to say keep it:biglaugh:

No way, dont leave us dude!

I bought my Supra last June before I started my senior year of high school.
Ive had it for a year and 4 months, roughly, and seriously the car has been on the road for maybe 15-20 minutes total in that time.
It took FOREVER to rebuild my motor (just to stock, too!) because I was in school and had to work, and pay for things paycheck to paycheck.

The motor is finally together and in, but im extremely far, almost depressingly far, from getting my car even on the right track, but its so damn fun I could never sell it, because it's MY CAR.

Do yourself a favor, take it off the road, get something cheaper but reliable to drive around, and take the time to carefully build the car the right way, and you'll appreciate it so much more. My car is sitting at my work as I type this, still not on the road, because I have too much shit to take care of, but Im so excited to think of what it's going to become one day.

Sorry for the long post, just trying to save a fellow member from falling, LOL.
