Rakkasans build, part III (project torque)

The car will be done this week. I had sent it off to Florida to have the motor dropped in due to me running out of time before I deploy. It looks like I'll get to drive it for a few days before I put it in the garage for a year :nono:

Anyway, John made a ton of repairs that I didn't know about. New poly suspension bushings, poly tranmission mount, pretty much a new A/C system, some powder coating, electrical work, ect. I'll post some pictures when I get it back.

I'm stoked.

Yes, but it's not very good news. Issues came up that include a lot of set backs in terms of time and money. It will be completed, but not for a couple of months. I'll have some pictures and info posted later, after all of the carnage is sorted out and some actual progress made.

A little progress has been made, but not much. I pulled the engine and transmission so I could repaint the engine bay. I have to get all of the harnesssssesss off to Randy at BIC so he can redo them for Mark. He's going with some new coil packs that Randy has done some research on. When I get the harness back from him, it will all be plug and play........hopefully.
I'm going to start sanding on Mark's car when we get some decent weather so it can be repainted. I think it's going to look soooo sweeet once I get the medium blue metallic on there.........:evil2:

So it got so bad you had to send it back to the Supra factory in Alabama? If I had any money, I'd trailer mine up there and leave it until all of my little issues were figured out.

yeah, I had no choice, but letting Jay take care of it was the choice I should have made in back in june. I deployed right after i got it back, so I had zero time to work on it. The wiring harness (1JZ), clutch (new), power steering pump (new), downpipe (a SS work of art from DM) were jacked up and had to be replaced. Not to mention the mods to the harness AND my two year old, near perfect paint was scratched and stained so bad that it had to be repainted.

It will cost me right around $6k to get it back into the condition I was expecting it to be in back in August. I'm glad to pay it though, I know that Jay will square it away.

The damage to the paint was from the car being left under a live oak when it rained. The acid from the leaves of a live oak has a powder that is high in Ph and turns into an acid when mixed with water. The hood an roof are pitted. Not to mention is was scratched and sat on causing the spider webbed cracks on the nose. It's just FUBAR.

Who knew Scott had jokes......that is hillarious. Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I will make sure everything is as good as it can be. I hate the weather has went to shit here because I was wanting to get started on the paint. Now I can't sand it because I don't want it rusting.......not that I have to sand it down to bare metal though.
I'm awaiting instructions from Randy as to what to send to him. He is going to email me my instructions tomorrow. I should be able to get the harness and other things needed in the mail by friday.
I have the engine on the engine stand right now, and it's also supported by the engine hoist because I read a long time ago about people saying your block could warp if it stayed on one too long. I don't think it's true, but it's not my motor and I'm not willing to risk it.
I have the engine bay as empty as I care to make it. All that's in it is the brake booster, the harness for the fuse box, and the master cylinder.
Mark, I hate you won't admit your love for the blue gayness. I guess you'll have to remain in the closet, but in the meantime, white it is..........:biglaugh:
