Put me on the list Kenny. Only two requirements would be a radiator vent and wiper fluid nozzle fitment (like stock), and I'm good. I have plenty of pictures (high res too) of the Stout hood, for radiator vent reference, but they're on my computer at home. I'll get on here and post them up from there this evening.

How are you shipping such a big panel? Some couriers have size/weight restrictions, I know U.P.S. dose.

I'm sure there's a way... ;) I'll get details on that tomorrow.

I had to work a ton of hours today and wasn't able to call him until late this evening. He didn't pick (which I don't blame him ;)); but, I expect to hear from him tomorrow.

You're on the list! :)

As promised (I believe I'm borrowing Nick's pictures here), here's pics of the Stout hood, for radiator vent reference. Hopefully someone can chime in on where the water would drop down if it were to rain... Personally, I'd rather not have water dumping down my cam gears and into the timing belt area if the vent could be moved a bit forward to drop between the pulleys and the radiator...

Again, I could do without the side vents, but the radiator vent... doable similar to this? Oh, and forgive me if someone's already asked this, but are these hoods going to be full CF, or are they going to be fiberglass with a top layer of CF for appearances?

Thanks for posting those pics. I'll hopefully get some answers on the rad vent today...

Our hood will be full CF. We do have the option of material choice once the mold is done. If you'd prefer fiberglass or kevlar, that is doable.

No problem Kenny, I figured they'd come in handy someday. I'd prefer full CF myself, don't know much about this kevlar you speak of (other than in clothing/armor applications), and not the biggest fan of fiberglass.

I'm liking Matt's idea... the above hood, with JUST the radiator vent. Cowl lines extended to meet the stock cowl lines would look awesome too, with a little bit of a raise (1-2") toward the back. :)

Looks like just two more people need to step up (and actually have some cash ready...) and this will happen!

Ken- could you check to see if the OEM hood struts will work with this hood? I know many CF hoods can't use struts because of the pressure being too focused...cracks are bad :/ If not we might have to come up with a creative hood prop solution for everybody, cause I'm not a fan of the broomsticks anymore :-D

I spoke with the builder this morning and have a couple more details.

-This Hood will retain the use of Hood Struts
-This Hood will retain the use Windshield Washer Squirters.

We need to decide on Cowl Height.

I will start nailing down payment, warranty, and shipping details, and will also find out what the price will be if we don’t get ten buyers. We really need to hit ten. $700 is a great price; but, we won’t get it without ten buyers.

Once all of the final details are arranged, I will start another thread (through proper forum methods) for committed buyers and we’ll get the ball rolling.

So, if you’re at all questioning your purchase now is the time to let me know!

I...

This is good!

As for the cowl hight, maybe we need to fab one up with "CAD" (Carboard Aided Design) to get a feel for how high it needs to be.

You know, if it's a cf hood, I'm sure even blown hood struts would hold it up... Good thing I have two of them haha! But seriously, for those of you considering the hood prop idea, BE CAREFUL OF WIND. Here in Wyoming, there's a law that states that the wind shall not blow at a speed less than 40mph at any point. Long story short, was filling up with gas, hood propped up (blown struts wouldn't hold it), wind blows into the hood, prop drops, and hood SLAMS. Not cool.

Lesson learned, keep a pair of vice grips under the hood to hold up the blown struts. :)

Good to hear the updates Kenny. My vote on cowl height is along the lines of yours. Just no Camaro hoods. ;)

I'll commit if the following happens: The hood has to be just like Tekdeus's hood, and no higher, Just like Kenny said, No more than 1 inch or 1 1/2 higher.
"Deciding on height": I thought it was already decided that it was gonna be just like Tekdeus's hood. Anything other than Tekdeus's hood, "I'm out" Not having a three inch cowl like the Mustang/Camaro hood.
2). Still waiting to hear from Cajun Kenny about shipping, warranty, final pricing.::popcorn::

I apologize if I misled. It will be similar to Tekdeus' hood. We've all decided on that already; but, we need to come to an agreement on an exact measurement so the mold can be made accordingly.

Trust me! This is NOT the "Billy Ray Cyrus Mullet Camaro Hood" thread! ;)

I'd love to have these vents, with a slight raised cowl!
p1647761_1.jpg

Kenny, you can put me down for one, tentatively, as long as I can get the vents as pictured above with a cowl height not more than 1.5 in. Anything the group agrees on up to that max is ok with me. Looking for CF as well. FYI, I will not be interested if the vents are not going to be offered as an option, so is there any way to verify this before any money is exchanged? Also, I would not be able to send the deposit until at least the 18th of this month so let me know if this is a problem and I will bow out. This hood would look so badass on a car that also had the Shine Auto front air guide:)

We're still ironing some details; but, here is some definitive information: (this is directly from the builder)

Shipping: I plan on finding an agency that will guarantee to meet or beat any other prices I may find. So you might mention that I am going to do such and if anyone wants or can find a better price, I will be sure to relay it to the company we end up working with. I'm not sure yet what the price range will be but I would be surprised to see any figures below $150. Most companies charge the same rates nationwide. I'll make sure its as cheap as it can be!

Hood struts: All of the "hard points" in the hood will be designed for its particular use. That means the hood latch, strut mounts and hood hinge mounts will all be metal under carbon and bonded in place during the making of each hood. I'm going to treat this project as if it were going on an airplane.

Windshield washer squirters: holes will be made to accommodate stock sprayers.

Cost for vents: Since there has not been an agreement for vents, I will have to treat them like their own custom project. I have a few ideas and I think I can keep the cost low but no processes have been set in stone. As of now, vents will be on a case by case basis and not considered standard.

More info to follow...

Couldn't we just ask either Duane or Brad? Tekdeus brought it from Duane. Anyone live near Them?:1zhelp:

If I were to pick a hood with vents this would be the one.

I still think someone should do a little "fab" work with some cardboard to see what looks good for a height measurment. I can try, but its dark and cold by the time I get home from work so it may be difficult.
