It would be way cheaper and faster if you just take a hood to a local metal fab or body shop and show them what you want done. Its really not that hard to do it yourself either to save even more money if you have a spare hood.

Might consider a layout of the hood pin location and cut out for the hood clasps to save the anxiety of cutting holes in a new hood for them.

When do you need a deposit or full payment to confirm the 10?

-Fred

Good idea on the accommodating for clasps/pins. I asked him about it and he said the those provisions will be on every hood.

He will get started as soon as all ten deposits are in. Once the tenth deposit is in, the project will take one month. Dates have not been set yet. We'll see if we can get ten slots filled on this thread. If we do, then I'll start the proper process for the GB.

There was a question about the Weave type. These hoods will be a 2x2 Twill 12k Weave.

He also mentioned that he is not limited to just Carbon Fiber. He can make CF/Kevlar colored ones as well. In case someone would like theirs color matched to their car. (Prices may vary)

I'd be game for a version with a radiator vent :)

Are there any hoods out there that have these already? I haven't seen one and would like to get a pic to the builder to see if this is possible at the $700 mark.

You can put me down for committed Kenny. I want to see this happen.

Good man! Another Marylander coming thru. Then when we show up at a local meet we can have matching hoods!---just like Kenny's on the west coast. Now all you have to do is paint your Supra BLACK so you can join the Black Supra club.----Great work on your build Chambers, we will have to meet up some time soon.

Is this an option that we can chose or do you mean that every hood will have clasp/pins?? Sounds to me it's an option, since it says "provision"

I'd love to have these vents, with a slight raised cowl!

Hopefully not :) VIS takes $400 for CF hood to norway.. so hopefully something like that. Price isn't really a problem. (I'm also soon taking a loan for $17k to restore the whole car)

I will get the details on this; but, my understanding is that the hood will be designed to make installation of pins/clasps easy. As in you won't have to drill through a main brace or support to install them.

He did mention that he would be able to install them for those that want them. Aside from the cost of the pin/clasp kit, I don't know how that will affect the price; but, I'll find out.

Well, so far, everyone has agreed on the main design resembling Tekdeus' hood. At this point vents are optional for those that want them. The type of vent(s) will dictate the price difference.

Scotty: I'll see if we can get an estimate of shipping to Norway to see if this will work for you.

If provisions for a hood pin set up like this, so that its flush would be something I would like. I'm unsure of where they would go, but if there was a "valley" (so to speak) for the pin I think that would be ideal:

There is also these that would only require a hole to be exposed, no "valley":

Haha yea, I think a Black - White raised cowl hood next to eachother would be sweet! Although, a black Supra is just plain bad ass to begin with.

And thanks for the compliment, yea, we sure do need to catch up, in fact I believe there are enough active Supra owners around here we could have a meet, I just met up with a local guy that had a 1JZ-GTE in his 90', and I know of at least three other Supra.

Just hit me, what about windshield washers and hood struts?

Yeah good point I would like the hood to mount just like factory, which means the hood struts have to be in the factory location.

Those two things are important to me as well. I should be able to get a hold of him tomorrow.

I am interested, but not committing to buying one until I see what it is going to look like. As far as shipping I will come pick it up.

Thus far, it is going to look like Tekdeus' hood. I know you've seen that one in person. ;)

Yeah, don't worry about shipping Matt. We'll make other arrangements.

Damnit, of course someone local is setting up an aftermarket hood GB, but I have 0 interest in a raised cowl.
If there's anyway he can make a stock or Stout style hood please let me know.
