I know the fear, I hydroplaned in a friend’s truck on the 91 near valley view. I was in the fast lane doing the speed limit 55mph, she kind of tweaked left toward the center divider, I steered right hit another puddle, and that was it, two three sixties I hit a guy in the slow lane, that was 27 years ago. I have been buying Goodyear Rain tires for all my vehicles ever since. My belief is that even cheap tires are decent when its dry, but it's got to be a damned high quality tire to be good in the rain. I am currently running the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 245-50/16 on stock rims. These tires, on this car, with ST sway bars, are an excellent blend as far as my experience goes.

Yea hydroplaning sucks, I feel like I have no control what so ever when it happens. But getting sideways is pretty fun when it rains.

I have some kumho extas on mine and, it has helped traction in rain considerably. My old sumitumo HTR+ were not so good in rain... Almost hit a van on my way home one night. I got traction at the last second and missed by all of two inches.....scared the crap out of me.

which ones?

I have SPT's and fucking LOVE them.

I can hit a puddle on the side of the road and it won't try to suck me into it, the tires are that good...

I have traction issues under boost, but I have that issue when it's dry out too :biglaugh:

Hydroplaning in a FWD car is a bit...interesting. Was driving my mom's little ass geo metro hatchback (1 litre, 3 cylinders of fury), and I'd be on the gas on the highway and all of a sudden the car was slowing down, but the speedo was going up really fast, I slowed way the fuck down after that...

I have the AST's. They are not as good as the SPT's, but I have yet to loose traction in the rain(boost excluded). I will probably put the higher end kumhos on my Super Advans once they come back from paint, but 8&9 inch wide 17's are expensive as hell to wrap in rubber. I need more money.....

I'm kinda worried about the tires on my Supra. The BFG KD's are basically just a dry weather tire that can sort of do rain. I rarely drive the car in the rain anymore so I will have to go test the tires in a parking lot during a storm in the spring.

i drive in the rain all the time

some tires work better and then other times it's completly the driver.

i have noticed though when tires get below 50% their useless asfar as split ssecond reaction in the rain or fasst cornering.

I scared myself merging on the highway once in fourth in the rain. I never drive in the rain as long as i can help it. I hate getting into a situation where i have to accelerate fast in weather like that.
