I needed something to drive while I rebuild the bottom end in my 1JZ, so I bought a RA64 Celica coupe off of a local guy for cheap. I forgot to take a picture of it while it was still light out, but it looks sort of like this one I took from wikipedia (except mine's white).

The car is just a classic, haha. The exterior is a little rough, someone spraypainted a huge mural all down the hood and one side of the car before I got it, and someone else then tried to remove said paint, so the paint's not the best. There's not a lot of rust on it though, and the interior is almost mint, aside from a few stains in the carpet. Once I get my supra out of the garage, I'm going to repaint the Celica a nice gloss black. It's going to look bad-ass.

I mean come on, the tail lights just look like it's giving you an angry look!

AT160 here... I occasionally consider getting the rear end out of an alltrac and doing a 7MGTE swap... They literally weigh around a ton, compared to a Supra that weighs almost two, even stock it'd be fast =]

Spraypaint FTL. Tuesday I get out the 220 grit wetsand, and my sander, and it'll be white again.

Black Supra MKII dash I modded into the car (half done so far).

I'm in the process of dying the door panels right now too. They're still wet in this picture. They look awesome when dry!

I also put in an extra Marlin Crawler shifter bushing kit I had lying around. It shifts like a dream now! (that's also my old MKIII shifter :))

Gonna do anything to that ol 22R?
Well, AFTER I get my Supra back up and running, I plan on doing a little freshing up. NEEDS a new front main seal, getting new rings, maybe bearings. I have a ported intake and exhaust manifold for it, I'm going to throw my extra megasquirt controller onto it. I also want to port the head, but I'm trying hard not to spend too much money on the car (like that ever happens).

Of course, I would love to see a turbo on this thing. 200whp in this car would be fun.

I actually just replaced the rear shocks this morning. The old ones were TOAST. They did nothing. Now I no longer have wheel hop every time I try to accelerate from a stop. I also fixed the speedo, and finished installing the Supra dash and dying the front half of the interior black. I guess I'll have to take some pics.... and I'll make sure the lights are up :)

Edit:

Black interior. Now I need to figure something out with the seats, and steering wheel.

And, the headlights up :). You can also see I started removing the paint from the hood.

220 grit, and an electric sander :)

coolness! is it difficult? about how long would you say it would take to do the full car? if thats too out there, how long did it take to do that bit on your hood? and do you know if there is any risk of immediate rust when the paint is stripped?

i'm curious because if i find a car with shitty paint that i can strip myself that info might help...

Well, it doesn't take all that long, you could do a whole car in an afternoon, depending on how thick the paint is. If you just want to re-paint a car, sanding down the clearcoat ontop to prep the surface takes very little time. It's the filling in of the dents and rust spots that take a long time.

It'll rust quickish, but a little primer overtop, and you're good. Use wetsand paper, and use a hose.

I'll post some more pics later, but I spent an hour today with the sander, and removed most of the paint from the hood. It went a lot faster then I thought it would take.

As for the Group A Celica: I would be in heaven if I could find the front-end form one of those cars. No more pop-ups :)

....The 3T-GTE would be nice too.
