Edit: this isn't my car, it is a friends. Just thought ya'll would like to see a 1JZ in something different.

Not really that much to say and I'm feeling lazy...

1JZ out of a '99 Chaser into a 1992 R32 Skyline GT-S.
Wiring was "difficult" but pretty much common sense once it got down to it.
A custom shifter extension piece had to be made to move the opening back about 6". Of course a custom drive-shaft was made to mate up to the R-154 and some custom motor mounts were made as well. That's about it!

Oh here's some motivation for you! This WHOLE (except cage) car was built with a little box'o'tools on the side of the road outside of an apartment complex on a Uhaul tow dolly...

Don't ever say you don't have the space or money to do things like this...

Specs on the car:
Stock VVTI 1JZ
Custom downpipe
Buddy club exhaust I think
URAS bumpers and skirts
Rear over fenders
Work Meister S1's
Cusco Zero-2 Coils
all upgraded suspension arms
welded diff.
other stuff

It's not a GT-r, it's probably a GTS-T...

The RB25 is pretty much a nissan version of the 1JZ, same displacement...

Yeah GT-S. Can't do much with a awd car when drifting haha....

The problem he was having was the nissan tranny's kept breaking. R154 FTW!

I remember seeing that car at HIN in Concord in the drift demo. That a sick skyline, never would have thought it was toyota powered

=) I got to see this car in person! It looked great, and if I remember correctly, it was one of the few cars that didn't have significant body damage in the drifting events.

Yeah no body damage yet thankfully!

Howdy! This is the owner of that abomination up there.

Glad yall dont hate it. Most forums dont really take to it much.

The car did not go from stock straight to 1J status, it was still RB20 powered when yall (levirolla) saw it at HIN in N.C. I loved my old RB20s (I have had em in EVERYTHING), but in this 3000lb heap and on large (in drift terms) 265 tires, transmissions were popping WEEKLY. I also hated that with the 2.0 I-6, lag was an issue. I decided to sell my RB when a deal came up where I could get the 1J VVT-i for under $2k. I sold off all the RB stuff AT that HIN demo in N.C. The whole pile of RB stuff netted me over $2600....and I ended up MAKING money on the 1J swap cause I had stuff laying around, and I had help in the form of IC pipe welding by my friends at MA Motorsports.

The wiring was just as Ben stated above...tuff at first, but once I realized toyota is not as retarded as nissan, it became pretty much common sense from there on.

I got a local place to mate the two drive shafts for just over $100. I still feel like that was eerily cheap but oh well, sweet!

...any way, I have done several events since the swap and HOLY HELL!!! I love the TORQUE!!!!! ....right off 2500rpms or so, it is just silly. I now do most of the second gear stuff in 3rd just cause it will. LOL. As a matter of fact, I do the down hill at VIR in third with no downshift at the bottom of the hill....hell, I do the WHOLE patriot course in 3rd. This is on a bone stock motor, ecu, turbo, clutch, and stock boost. I cant wait to throw a man clutch, 3076r, and some boost at this thing!

yo man I got one question though. WHo ideal was it to do the exhaust out the back with it sticking up. I think it looks pretty cool and different. Gave me some ideals with my supra's exhaust.

1JZ? Torque? But seriously, you did really well at VIR. I mean pretty much EVERY car there had missing body panels and bumpers by the end of Saturday and when I left Sunday you were still going strong =) I wish I had seen the rest of the team drift, I left during the warmups so I wouldn't have to drive back in the dark. What did you end up placing?

My friend and I from Charlotte visit SC a lot for fun driving. When we saw a skyline with an SC license plate we were like :icon_eek: :runaway: Nice job with it and the same goes for your friends' cars!

I know alot of guys on here chuckle at the torque of a 1J, but coming from a 2.0 RB, it has LOTS! In a 3000 plus pound car, an RB20 will not speed up in 5th gear unless you get into boost...no, I'M SERIOUS. I would have to put the car in 4th gear to accelerate ANY on flat ground in 5th gear below 4k rpms....

With the 1J, I can lug through "rolling stops" at intersections in 3rd or 4th if I feel like it!!! (not a good idea mind you).

Another thing I think helps it to feel torquey for me is the vvt-i stuff. If I understand it correctly, it is actually retarding timing to spool the turbo and give low end torque... either way, I get 10psi at 2400 rpms or less and I loooooovvvvveee that.

I cant WAIT to see what this thing feels like with a 3076r or similar sized medium turbo hanging off the side of it!

I swear I typed an exhaust reply the other night but it isnt here now...... oh well.

We just do the exhausts that way to one up each other (my friends and I). WE dont think it looks good or cool, but the comments in parking lots and at events are always entertaining. My last S14 had an exhaust on it that was similarly retarded, but was aimed outward and SHARP... one of our friends got 11 stitches and an ambulance ride out of it, so we have been aiming em up since....(funny now...heck, what am I saying, it was funny then too):sarcasm:.

I have not thought up something dumb to do with this exhaust yet. We were taking it so seriously when we were modding it to fit the car and trying to make it fit all perfect....now that it has been together a while, I gotta do up a new weird one.

ps. I did TERRIBLY at Pro-am! I had no e-brake, and I had NEVER driven VIR before. I dont know why but I am SCARED to death of that wall.. oh well, I got a yr to practice up at US Drift events and go at it again.

I appreciate you mentioning that my car was in one peice all day. I know it means I should push harder, but I take pride in the fact that I was the only car that DROVE THERE (5.5hrs!) and competed, and that I drove it home with all the body panels in-tact. Honestly, I have never hit ANYTHING at an event cept at e-town (infield clip RAPED a bumper.)... I really do need to man up and be more aggressive...a truck and trailer will help that alot, LOL.
