I'm glad you asked that question. I was skeptical at first too, so I did some investigation of my own before I went under the knife with this transformation. So the Pontiac Solstice is a great car, but apparently not good enough. There is a shop out there that is called Mallet Performance. They take your brand spanking new Pontiac Solstice and put a corvette engine in it and guarantee their work for a year or some shit like that. Very good shop, doing a remarkable job with these cars. They bolt of the LSx engine to the stock (R154) transmission with an adapter plate and modification of some sort (for us, it bolts right up). I called to ask if anyone has had any problems with that transmission and if they have had to use the warranty on the transmission, cause I'm sure these cars are beat on after their transformation. Not one has come back with a broken tranny! Now the base model LSx engine does 400 tq. stock and they have a couple Solstice transmissions with the C6 Z06 motor so I have heard on the R154 transmission, and not one has come back. This goes to show you, that it WILL hold and it has been proven to hold.
Edit: I know they are using the 6-speed Tremec Transmission with the LS7 motors now, but I have been informed on the Solstice forums that they did the swap with the stock tranny and it's holding fine. That they merely did the 6-speed Tremec Transmission for MPG and to make the transmission a safe bet with the 500hp/tq. that it put on min. at the crank, but that the stock one would have held cause it has.

Justin727 said:I havent seen anything about the solstice transmission thats why I was wondering about it. I have heard it bolts up to the 7m but I havent seen it proven to hold 400+hp/tq on the 7m. Don't be mistaken I'm not at all saying that your statement is false but I have yet to see it. Have any links I'd be interested on reading up on it myself!
Also I would be interested to see if the thrust washer in that r154 could be used in the 7m r154 since its better...
