How come most supras I have seen with "KYB w/ eibach" combination is lower than "Illuminas w/ eibach". Does KYB makes the car lower?

tokico's are stronger and basically better for cars that are lowered. kyb's don't have long lives on cars that are lower than 1.0'' i think it is. someone can chime in with some better info on these. but all in all tokico's are better than kyb's. don't really know about stiffness. i got some kyb's on my car and they feel like shit.gonna be swapping them out for tein coilovers pretty soon.

^ can you show me where you found that? I have actually never heard of KYB having crappy life on our cars. Tokico's are probably better over all though, but I do remember reading people having problems with blowing them out. Overall... If you want low get coilovers. If you want a good replacement feel with not an extreme low then Eibach with some shock will be fine. I actually had KYB/ Eibach combo before and loved it for what it was. If you want some before and after pics of my car on that suspension tell me and I will find them for you.

it was in some thread on here. i need to search and find it. but it is on here somewhere. kyb's do have short life spans on cars lowered pass 1.00''. i'm not knocking kyb's. just saying that i've heard better about tokico's.

KYB's work fine if you dont slam the car. use a 1.3 lowering spring and your fine.

I wouldn't recomend H&R's with kyb's though. Use bilstiens for that.

I sold a guy some sportline eibachs (lowers it 1.8 inches and looks HORRIBLE IMHO) for his honda, and kyb gr-2's and he blew the GR-2's in less then a month.

He is now running bilstien.

for your edification... KYB told me that KYB's arent intended for lowered vehicles. they will not warranty their shocks/struts if you TELL them they were on a lowered car. then, if you lie to them and say they were NOT on a lowered car, they tell you to ship back your AGX/GR2's to them on your dime so they can do a failure analysis and determine whether or not they will replace your blown KYB's.

moral of the story, dont bother putting KYB's on a car thats lowered more than 1.0" because they wont stand behind their product when its used on Lowered cars, i wouldnt push my luck if i were any of you.

i learned the hard way and had a full set of AGX's fail on my old DSM that was lowered on Intrax springs after about 5 months. but it looked bad ass.. even with those 16" enkeis and 205/40's

i was worried that GR2 would be Softer than a TEMS strut on hard. i thought about getting them for my Turbo2 RX7 but had the same concerns; i wouldnt want to replace it w/ the wrong thing.

For the price you can get KYB's for there is no real point in sending them in for replacements. I bet the shipping cost alone will almost cover getting another strut. If you are worried about stiffness just save for coilovers. Any strut with eibachs is just a really nice stock replacement. Not to stiff when driving around but when you want to take those turns they handle them really well becaue of the progressive set up.

i meant for the AGX's. those are well over $40 each unlike the GR-2's.

and i have the pro-kit listed as a 1.5"/1.0" drop, F/R. the rates are 6.1-11.2 kg/mm for the front. the rears are 2.2/4.6 kg/mm.

for reference, the stock are linear rate listed at 8.2 kg/mm for the front and 3.8 kg/mm for the rears.

so the Eibach's will technically be softer than stock initially but be harder than stock after compression. i just dont know how much travel/compression/bound it takes to transition from the softer rate to the harder rate on those springs.
