Admitting and fixing the stupidity is better than whining :naughty:

So hopefully I will be able to order the gasket next week. Bills are no fun, but necessary. I can't quite decide on which manufacturer. I have a notion to go with the slightly more expensive/nicer gasket though :icon_bigg

Quick Update - was laid off last week. Currently in Puerto Rico on a much needed impromptu vacation visiting family. Ordering gasket when I get back. Stay Tuned!

Final Update - This is being dropped. I hate to say it, but it's a smart decision financially and time wise right now to trade the set-up with Forcefedsupra in return for an equally capable 7m that runs so I can have my car back on the road. What would I do without good friends? I'll just have to get another mkiii or mkiv down the road and do the 2jzna-t then. I know everything now so it would take MUCH less time to do it again :biglaugh:

Man, what a roller coaster this build has been. Will be pulling the motor tomorrow to check the bearings and order the correct 2.1mm MHG from Apexi and Horsepowerfreaks.com. I received assistance from a previously unforeseen source, and although I hate taking money and help, in this case I didn't deny it :biglaugh: Should be running in a few days

That's some good news! I'm sure you'll get all the kinks worked out and it will be worth all the money and time you put into it.

Ok, so the motor is in. Timing seems to be just right, but she still misfires a lot. Car randomly shuts off, so I am going to check all of the relays and fuses. There is nothing grounding out, the engine wiring was done perfectly this time.

Second issue, oil pressure is running close 100psi when cold. Once warmed up she comes back down to about 21-22psi at idle. If the rpms are above 1K, the pressure shoots up to about 60-80psi tops as the revs go up (20psi> 30psi> 40psi> 50psi>etc...), depending on whether we are sitting or driving.

Third issue, oil is pissing out of the block on the intake side, and appears to be just beneath the upper coolant neck. This happens whether we are idling or driving. There is coolant in the head again too. There is no blown MHG though and the car is strong when driving. The head was properly torqued and re-torqued after a few heat cycles. There is a galley there between the block, head, and rear timing plate that sits behind the cam gears. Its large enough to fit your pinky into and this appears to be the source of oil/coolant escape. Anyone know anything about the 2jz's and what on earth is suppose to be here? I am posting on supramania and clublexus to see if anyone has any idea.

Im VERY close to trading this vehicle for a K5 4X4 Blazer, or any lifted truck or nice V8 vehicle. Yet, I want to stick with this...

Owning a supra is a love/hate relationship. Seriously. And I mean the throwing-shit/yelling-and-then-crazy-make-up-sex kind of relationship. :3d_frown:

Go spend $1k on a DD honda accord or civic and just keep the Supra.

When it comes down to it though, its all your choice man. Nobody said this was going to be easy...

Hang in there, sounds like you're close! The 2jz is not high volume low pressure like the 7m so your oil pressure looks ok, that's about where mine is too. Crazy to actually have oil pressure eh? :)

Oil leak sounds like the sender area, did you tap into it for your turbo oil feed?

The spot I think your talking about the galley being is where the vac line to the p/s pump runs from the intake, if you have a leak there you may have a leak between the head and timing cover. Was the block decked, possibly without the timing cover?

Timing cover? Which timing cover are we talking about? I may be missing a piece...

So 90psi on a cold start is ok? I was riding in my friend's newly built '87 350 camaro and he runs 50-60psi cold idle, 25psi warm, and up to 70psi while driving, and that's a fully built motor...

I wont be getting rid of the supra, but I do have a lead on several $400-700 4 and 6 banger fox-body stangs. I may be getting a DD sooner or later, but I think I will be able to fix this leak in a few days, if that.

It doesn't appear to be anything to do with the MHG leaking, but the block was not decked, just checked. Everything was straight and the head was specifically decked and smoothed for a MHG and so far its perfect except for this one little leak.

Ok, after looking at a picture of my head when it was at The Head Shop, I have found the area that is causing the issue. Why, I don't know. Maybe it's because the block and head aren't sealing properly on the MHG. We torqued it down to 80 ft-lbs with moly-lube after 5 heat cycles on the motor so... who knows. This appears to be the area though, and would explain why the coolant and oil are mixing without getting into the cylinder... Maybe the high oil pressure was to blame? Could the head studs be too tight? Does the block need to be milled all over? Any ideas are welcome. So far, this is just a theory, I have no idea if this is really what is happening.

I am determined to make this f*cking build work. I am pulling the motor and having the block hot tanked and decked and the head rechecked for proper smoothness. Then it will be POWA TIME!

Well, silly me. I traded this build away and the new owner still has a leak after having the thing hot tanked and decked.

I now have a new poopra to work with. 7mgte style this time. And no crazy 'OMFG POWA PARTZ!' from the beginning. Nice and easy stock-ish with room for upgrades.

Update on this vehicle: I worked on it this past week and she runs pretty well now! Just clearing up some spark/misfire issues. The current owner has had it sitting for quite a while, but I'm glad we are getting back into it. Nice to see what this thing can do.
