Took the front bumper and bumper support off, started cutting the bumper support but didn't get far before having to leave to meet a guy that's buying my wheels. Also cut off most of the extra tab on my PS radiator and replaced the bumpers on top of the fenders (stupid overspray).

Just secured a PLX M-300 wideband from Evolution. Should be shipping very soon. This is my list right now of parts I either have or have on the way that need to be installed.

-Flushmount headlights
-Battery Box (just need to drill the hole in the firewall and wire it up, the positive cable is already ran through the car)
-SAFC II
-PLX M-300 Wideband
-Turbo-A duct replica
-Oh Shit! handle
-Re-wire engine harness (replace each wire with the factory color, soldered and heat shrinked)

Cut the hole in the front bumper support and put on a fresh coat of black spray paint. Got it hanging from a come-along right now in the garage. The 3 supports in the hole took a few minutes to figure out the easiest and quickest way to remove them. And the air tank (100 gallon) ran out of pressure a couple times and I had to walk away for a few to let the pressure build back up. If I had a plasma cutter I would have been done in 10 minutes instead of a couple hours.

I also got my new battery box in tonight. I'll mount that while the Tiger's Hair is curing. Here's the latest batch of pics.

being in the collision industry I HIGHLY recommend not hacking up the rebar. It could mean the difference of your car totaling on a front impact and also how bad you end up getting hurt.

I gotta do it Chase in order to get the duct in there. Got the bumper hole cut and the duct trimmed, then molded the duct into the bumper using Fibre Hair. Once it cures, I'll put on another layer where there are shallow spots, then sand it until it is nice and smooth and paint the bumper with some glossy black paint to protect it. Also, I got my SAFC II tonight and the new owner of my old 5-spoke wheels came by and picked up his wheels.

I think I'll take some of the scrap metal from my old door and fender and reinforce the suport so that the hole is like it is, but enclosed on the 4 inner sides so that it has a sealed hole. I'll do some cutting and hopefully welding tomorrow.

Decided to get rid of the nose cone emblem while I had easy access and teh materials easily at hand and ready. Got that off and filled in with Tiger's Hair too. Also cut panels to line the inside of the bumper support and prepped them for welding. Tomorrow or Sunday I'll make a couple vortex's to go inside the bumper support to improve air flow. All this scrap metal courtesy of my old drivers door. Still have plenty left to use for whatever I feel like.

Quick update, this is how my car is sitting. The fiber resin stuff is still drying, although very slowly due to the coldness here. I turne on the propane heater this afternoon for a few hours so that there would be heat in the garage for my parts to dry. Also, I finally started work again on my giant wrench (Super Supra Stick). Put down a couple coats of glossy black spray paint. On a side note, the black dually behind my car was parked with the liscense plate frame touching my bumper (future step-dad thought it is funny), so I moved my car forward a foot today and now there is a dent where the liscense plate frame was touching. Hopefully the dent will come out with a little heat. If not, my future step-dad will be getting me a new bumper.

Sucks about the bumper. Progress is always good though, I can't wait to see it all put back together and painted the same color, it's going to look awesome!

The dent came out, it just needed time to get put back in shape. I'll work on my car this weekend, once my homework is done of course. With any luck I'll have the fiber resin on both the upper bumper and lower bumper sanded down, and a 2nd coat of fiber resin in select spots applied on the lower bumper. When both are sanded down to the point that they are nice and flat and smooth, I will put down a coat of black spray paint and put them back on the car.

Hey Adam -

Just found your build. Great job on piecing your Sup together. I found your build on a search for the Weapon Wheels... I was just shopping yesterday for a set myself, and thought I'd search the forum for anyone else that had them. Seeing your car has sealed the deal for me in wanting them! I need some new rubber on the car, and figure as long as I need to buy tires is the perfect time to upgrade from the stock saw blades.

I've got an '87 rolling on the stock suspension right now, with plans for a small (inch ish) drop in the near future with new springs - If I can still get up my steep-ass driveway with them. Did you have to roll your fenders to get that set-up to fit? Any rubbing issues? I was thinking of ordering 225/45's up front, and 255/40's out back, and am kind of stoked to see something wider than I thought I could get away with. And you didn't need spacers, right?

I've been pounding my head around the 'wheel fitment' thread to see what I like and what would be neat, but don't have the cash to pony up for 18x9's and 18x10's. I love that I saw your sane wheel/tire choice looks so good!

Thanks for the write-up... I'll be keeping an eye on your build.

Dango, if you're upgrading wheels, go wider. Do a 245/40 up front and a 275/40 out back. As far as spacers go, I need to take my car to a wheel shop and see about getting my rear wheels tucked into the fender a 1/2 inch.

Ok, time to update my build thread. I finished all my homework and had a couple hours of free time before work, so I went to the garage and sanded down the lower and upper bumpers. The upper bumper also recieved a quick coat of black spray paint (to protect the fiber resin from water and to make it all one color until I am ready to prep for paint), and the lower bumper still needs more sanding, but by hand. I used a die grinder with a 2" 80 grit and 36 grit sand paper attachment to remove the material quickly. Once I get the resin sanded down good enough by hand, I will bondo in the low spots, and sand again. Then put a quick coat of black spray paint down. Once the upper bumper is dry, I will reinstall it on the car. I still need to weld the bumper support panels in, and give it a coat of black spray paint, then install that as well.

Also, I put another coat of black paint on the Super Supra Stick.

I finally have almost a full day of free time to work on the Supra (ton of homework from my 4 college classes [14 credits] and working ~30 hours a week delivering pizza). The upper bumper part (the piece that had the emblem on it) is getting sanded down so that it's nice and smooth again (crappy runs from crappy spray painting on my part), then the emblem area is getting sanded and filled in where necessary to make it nice and seamless. Then a fresh coat of black spray paint will be layed down (indoors sitting on a something stable). Before do that though I am going to put a fresh layer of fiber glass down around the duct and so the low spots can be filled in. As they say, the more you do something the better you become.

On a side note, I still don't know how to weld and the garage just got an Earth wood stove to make it nice and toasty for free (although we still need the main pipe so we can finish installing it). The wrench also needs to be sanded down again and resprayed to fix my impatience issue (cracked and dull paint in spots).

Discovered that my propane bottle is 18 years old and that I need to get it replaced soon. One gas station refused to fill it up because it is so old, so I decided to just run it empty then replace it with a new bottle. The propane heater blasting hot right now, slowly heating up the garage (although it's aimed right at my parts to cure the bondo and fibre hair). The upper bumper has been sanded down and filled in with bondo in a couple low spots. The lower bumper has been sanded down around the duct, the grill removed, and a fresh coat of Fibre Hair applied. Too bad it's freezing cold here and even with the heater blasting I can still see my breath when I breath inside the garage. Pics up in a couple hours.

I would suggest boxing in the bumper support. Don't use thin material for this job. Buy some thicker plate and do it properly. Safety is not the place to go cheap.

Got a ton more sanding done today on the duct. 100 grit sand paper and a sanding board, plus a lot of hard work sanding. It looks really good, but I still have a couple spots on all sides of the duct to fill in then sand. Here's the pics.
