Well I pulled the clutch pedal off to get better access to the fuse panels and wiring, I pulled free the fuse panels and disconnected the wiring harness that goes through the drivers side fender well and then untaped it and started tracing wires. I depinned a couple wires that were no longer being used and started to label some wires for what they are or how I'm going to reroute them so I can put my fuse box in its new home behind the glove box. I also removed the radiator to both give me better access to the wiring harness that runs under the radiator support and to allow me to be able to change out my crank pulley when I finally get the cash to buy one. Yes I know the wiring looks like a rats nest right now but trust me I'm just getting started in figuring out how I want to route the wires. Some will be extended and some will simply be rerouted.

I spent most of the day tracing and removing completely (including depinning) wires and connectors and relays that aren't being used anymore. In the process I also ended up removing a couple fused locations since they were no longer needed. Needless to say, there were a lot of them. Since I'm relocating the fuse box I realized that the AM1 wire goes all the way around the engine bay to the passenger kick panel connection grid. I removed 8'8" of that wire and soldered the wire back together so that it's only about a foot long now. After I pulled it off I noticed that it had some serious damage to the shielding in 2 spots close to each other, originating somewhere around the original battery location. Pics are below of it. Tomorrow I'll start the work of rerouting and extending the rest of the wires to put the fuse box in its new home.

Every wire I removed came from something that no longer exists in my car. Example, when I removed my heater the connectors that plugged into it I labeled them to be removed since their end location was the heater. I physically traced all the wires and all of them led to either another connector or a fused location. I only removed the wires that came from those connectors. Some connectors on the car after I depinned them had half as many wires as they originally did because they were part of several systems. I've been very thorough in how I removed the wiring. If I wasn't sure what a relay did that I though I could remove I asked and confirmed what it was before removing it. Example, the 2 A/C relays that were originally next to the fuse box are now gone, along with the RTR fuse and all it's components (the pins the fuse plugs into and the wires going into those pins).

I cleaned up the wiring a little bit more, cut a ground wire into 2 and put a fitting on each wire so I can bolt them to a good ground. I soldered onto 2 wires an 8 foot extension that will be trimmed down once I know how long the wires actually need to be. I ran all the wires through the factory gasket that goes into the firewall with the modification of removing everything but the outer ring so I could fit all the wires and connectors through. I still need to extend several wires a foot or so, depending on the wire, to be able to plug the connectors into the fuse box. The rerouted wiring harness is being ran over the top of the steering column behind the pedals. Once all the wires are propperly extended I'll wrap them in split loom and tape it shut with a light taping of electrical tape. While trimming a ground wire I noticed a couple major fuse sections that came from the fuse box weren't attached to anything anymore (the ends of the wires go to the battery for power) so I trimmed off most of the excess and left a bit to play with, to be trimmed up if needed. I also noticed my braided stainless brake lines were rubbing off the paint on my coilover so I wrapped it with a little electrical tape to prevent any further wear.

I finished extending the wires to the fuse box and mounted the fuse box. A hold had to be drilled in the firewall for me to bolt it down and the hole in the fuse box had to be enlarged a little to fit the 12mm bolt through. All in all I only had to extend 2 wires 6 feet', 1 wire 2.5', and 5 wires 2'. And I also chopped off 8'8" off the AM1 wires and another 2' or so off a couple other main wires. Once my power distribution block arrives I'll cut the main power cable coming from the battery and put each cut end into the distribution block and then plug in the cables from the fuse box that need direct power from the battery. Since I'm picking up a parts car on the 10th that has a better drivers seat, and since I had to pull the passenger seat to make it more comfortable to finish extending the fuse box wires, I'm going to pull the carpet out and give it a good cleaning, along with removing the rest of the heater system (the ducting that goes under the carpet is still in place). Tomorrow I gotta wrap the fuse box wires to clean them up and put them in their final location, along with putting my clutch pedal back in.

I hate electrical, but it's not terrible haha. Wiring work is easy, it's just the diagnosis of the problems that sucks :(

It's looking good though Adam. You're right, too, that it's never finished lol

Well the fuse box relocation is 99% done. All that's left is to cut the main power cable and install the power distribution block. I wrapped the wires in electrical tape, zip tied the bundle up above the brake pedal to get it out of the way, put back in the crash support (along with installing 2 12mm bolts that I never noticed the location of before), installed the clutch pedal, and temporarily bolted back up the steering column. I need to find a cap to go over the hole in the firewall where the engine harness used to go through. One of the pics shows the new location of the ground that comes from a connector in the fuse box, in case ya'll are wondering. Also, I trimmed off the tabs where the fuse box used to bolt down to.
