Hey guys. I'm taking out my old 7M because I blew it out and now putting in a JDM motor. I have everything off of it, Case bolts, starter, blah blah, I only took off the top nut on both motor mounts, It doesnt want to go anywhere. Do I need to remove both the top and bottom buts off of the motor mounts?? Thanks

If you have unbolted the transmission from the motor already, you will have to lift the motor first off of the mounts, and then pull it forward from the transmission. BUT, before you can do that , you will have to go through the inspection panels of the tranny to remove the bolts from either the pressure plate, or the torque converter before they will separate.

Once you have it out, it would be wise to go ahead and Drop the driveshaft, and transmission mount, and remove the transmission. It is much easier to re-install the transmission to the motor out of the car. I sit and type this while my transmission sits on a table by itself.

Thanks for the info. Inspection plate is off and I'm about to take the bolts from the pressure plate. In a few days my supra will be alive again!

Dude, pull them both out at the same time! Its a pain moreso when trying to reconnect them in the car. Save yourself the headache. I know this because i have pulled and install both a 7m and 1jz at least 5 times altogether. I say again, save yourself the trouble!

Exactly, the mounts go with the engine, not with the subframe. If you leave them on the subframe you're going to tear them pulling the engine...

Also, if it's the square mounts, you have to disconnected the dampener.

The motor is out already. It looks like I will be going the engine alone route, No tranny pull, but something very random happened today, My moms cousin stopped by the house and he had happened to do a 7M swap to his fathers car, He used to work for Toyota, so he gave me some tips on the swap. Anyway, Once I get it running I will throw some pics up, Thanks for all of the info.
