I got my block apart now ready to send when I get the pistons. What the deal is is I got the motor with a MHG on it titan 1.5 not sure will have to mic that. They claim the head was done and is 100% sure of that but they are not sure about the block. I am just goint to have the shop make sure the surface is what it needs to be. SMOOTH AND FLAT. whatever they need to do. SO I am not sure what was taken off previously so I am not sure what the total cut will be for both to get a gasket to seal it with the proper CR.

Also while i am on the subject HOW do you get the coating off the MHG? If I can reuse this I will if not I am getting rid of it and get what I need. but I don't know will take off the Whatever it is called VITON? that may be way off I don't know.

Paint Thinner or Acetone and a scotch brite pad. You'll have to remove it between the layers too.

What started out as a mild build is slowly turning into a high hp build. It is just hard to resist some of the deals I have gotten on parts. I plan on having them do that. I want to feel secure in this build.

i'll be really hoenst, dont get in over your head. im now kind of regretting buying my probe pistons... although i got them for a deal i couldnt refuse, its now kind of pointless... if i smarter i would have gone with stock pistons... but its whatever.

I Have already bought 90% of what I need for this build except what I will need to order after the machine work. (Bearings and such) I have no plans of making this car a dd. I have a 98 neon a 02 Z71 to drive. I have a 74 shovelhead build I have on hold till this is done. My toyota 4X4 is a toy also not really for the street. SO I have plans of taking this car to the first step. then just going up till I burn out on it and then start the next project.

As for the pistons what type of coatings are there and what are there purpses? Any suggestions or recomendations were are they available to have done.

Top - Ceramic It keeps hot spots from forming
Sides - Moly for friction reduction
Bottom - Thermal dispersant Self explanatory

I will have to do some research on this I may be interested in having this done if it is that benificial to motor life under high boost or Possibly a shot in the DISTANT future.

The way I see it is if you can't give a SPECIFIC reason on why not to run these then don't downgrade them. I just would like some of the guys that have suggested to not run them tell me why.

It's because some people only want you to buy what they bought, because they feel it's the best.

so i was looking at the titan ultimate race pistons... and tell me why the probes have the SAME stuff in them.

http://titanmotorsports.com/timoulrapi.html

the 'accumulator' groove is on the probes... im really starting to see the technology and the 'features' in the probes... i know they dont have the coatings like those titans do, but still, if the same technology is used in two products, they should yield similar results.

The only thing the Probes are missing out on, is forced pin oiling. Blame me for that - with the oil squirter situation, I didn't even think of it ;)

i guess i found the flaw
i was going to write the whole story and looking for a picture i found this thread

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85760&highlight=probe+pistons

the wall beside the valves is too thin, i took my engine off cuase one cylinder was 0 compression, i thought maybe it was a ring, i looked the pistons and five had the thin wall around the valve clearance melted but one was horrible melted around those spots. I will upload pictures if i get a camera. I guess they can not take consistant 26psi out of a T70. (on 100 octane gas at a/f of 11.5.1)
